And the format being compatible with HD-DVD, do you think HD-DVD will still have limited life with the inevitable high def bootlegs coming out of China?

Other way around. Their format wont work on HD DVD players, but HD DVDs will work on theirs.

Oh my mistake. Although I would assume that some hackers could figure out a firmware download. I don't know too much about those types of things though. All I know is that you should never underestimate determined bootleggers.
Not that it matters, I wouldn't know how to go about buying bootleg DVDs anyway. I was just trying to get some conversation going that wasn't about HD-DVD going under.

Funny that you mention that. I sent a e-mail off yesterday to Blue Ray technologies, one of the companies that makes HD DVD disc, they are keeping some of their hardware for CH/HD DVD disk production this summer, for exports. So even the company that was quashing HD DVD burning is keeping the technology around for a bit... It's not done yet...

Yeah but the real question... Is China NTSC or PAL? I thought the Asian Countries used PAL...

CH DVD means nothing to me. I am not interested in watching extras and such that are dubbed over in Chinese.
