Well IB, I think anything that's been announced for Feb and March. Will be released, those discs are already pressed and Packaged. So it doesn't make any sense to not release them. They already planned to release them to a small market and that market is still here. After that, I don't know, my guess is they'd keep releasing until WB is done in May but who knows.

Hope your right MovieLover,
I have a list of about 27 or so HD DVDs I still want to get including some that were scheduled to be released like Twister and I am Legend.

I'm just wondering how this is going to effect some Imports I preordered. I have the German version of T2 on preorder. It isn't due out until March 30th I hope it's still released.

Yeah, this won't be immediate. If you've already manufactored HD titles, why not just release them.

Yeah Johnson, it's not like they're going to pile up discs that have already been made. Outside the factory and set fire to them.

Movielover316... you never know. See my COMMENT HERE at the bottom of that thread's pg 1 (for a comparison to LaserDisc when it was abandoned.)

Well that would suck if they did that. I better pick up Beowulf as soon as possible then.

Those who supply the content for HD DVD will continue to provide product for the HD DVD market, as long as there is a market to exploit and make money off of.

If a supplier can make more, on their respective bottom line by destroying their inventory, then that is what they will do. If they figure they can make a buck or two selling this product to the consumer, then that is what they will do.

At the end of the day, it isn't really what is best for the consumer that will decide...it is what is in the best interests of each suppliers respective share-holders )

Cheers all...

btw - I still hope to pick up some new releases on HD DVD...Beowulf, American Gangster, I Am Legend and Twister :]

Excellent comment r-u-serious... And those titles you mentioned are now collector's items, and definitely worth adding to a collection. I've already got BEOWULF on HD-DVD pre-ordered from Amazon, and will consider the others in due time - let's hope they are already being replicated and will not get cancelled (certainly possible).

I remember the last LaserDisc title released in the USA was Paramount's SLEEPY HOLLOW, and the company only did a small pressing run of a few thousand copies. They even released it without a DD 5.1 track (was Dolby Surround only), despite 5.1 being a LD standard for many years (with about 700 titles released with 5.1 tracks). So, it was a quick final LD release, then THE END for the format (as far as new releases).
