Why is this strange. It is a smart move, LG will capture the market for all the HD DVD supporters. Yes there will be a market for the dual players very much so. Even though I was looking at the PS3, I really want a dual player so I can have one unit, that plays both.

Yippie!!!
I will be saving up to buy a LG BH200 Dual Player. I have 97 HD DVD's and all be able to enjoy both formats and have all the Ethernet capabilities as the PS3.

Wow, I'm kinda shocked. I knew they produced drives for them, but wow, could they take over HD DVD? Probably not, now that studios will soon drop HD DVD...

Well has Universal said they are going to totally drop HD DVD? Same with Paramount, did these companies say that they are totally dropping HD DVD?

Glad to hear LG is doing this :]
Let's just hope they find a way to make a dual format player without all the bugs :]

Well to sum this one up, this is some good news for the millions of people who bought into HD DVD. And a very wise move for LG.

I think this is a smart move on their part. There is an install base of over 1 million HD-DVD customers. Many of whom are NOT dual format. I really don't care to have multiple DVD players plugged into my TV. I'm probably not in the minority on that either. I have a 360 and no need for a PS3. LG's dual player will fit just fine. It is somewhat of a niche market, agreed, but then plenty of companies make money in niche markets.

To all those that keep whining about how buggy Blu-ray players are supposed to be (which is BS), wait till you get a hold of one of these LG dual format players and you'll know what buggy truly is. These players are exceptionally poorly designed and have demonstrated numerous playback issues since they've been released. These issues have also been well documented, just ask one of their owners.
Trust me, LG's got a loooooooooooong way to go to prove to everyone that they're worthy of making a legitimate dual format player that will satisfy the most hardcore audio/videophiles that want to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Hey vortex, why do you got to be so negative. I come in your Blu site and I am very respectful. But you jump on in here and you start talking down. Is it because a company decides to keep HD DVD around in the form of a player? My GOD, now it is time the Blu fans let it go. You won the war, and let's just all learn to deal with each others likes and dislikes. I am one person who is happy that a dual player will still be around.

I think this is good news. No reason not to provide support to the HD DVD installed fan base. And in LG's defense, they may end up being the only game in town within 6 months to a year. This is not a bad move.
Also,
People need to lay off the HD DVD supporters. Remember it was 50/50 going into this war. Regardless of what you think about the product you support, it could very well have been Blu Ray that lost. I am a Blu Ray fan, but don't think for a second that I take that fact for granted. Neither should anyone else. So can we stop the gloating.

Some Blu-ray fans will not be satisfied until the last ember of HD DVD has been doused. Seriously, these guys are major haters.

My lord IB, one cannot win with you can they? How am I negative towards HD DVD by telling you not to get this LG player? I'm doing you a favor by telling you not to waste your hard earned money ($800 to be exact) on a paperweight that will give you problems the moment you insert your first disc into it. You're not a very good judge of character my friend, but you know what you can just stop responding to my posts if you don't like them. It's that simple.
I'm certainly not gonna kiss your ass just cause you want me to be "positive". I'm gonna be direct and always tell it how it is. Whether you like it or not. Maybe someone else will appreciate me being honest about something and will listen to a good advice, especially when it comes to preventing them from making a bad purchase.

LG really did stand for Lucky Goldstar. I did not make that up.
From Wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LG
Quote:
Created in 1947, it assumed the abbreviated name of "LG" in 1995. LG is an abbreviation of "Lucky Goldstar" in South Korea, which is translated into English as Lucky Goldstar—"Goldstar" being 金星 "Gold Star." LG, as it is now known, was commonly known in Japan and surrounding nations as the "Happy Happy Good Times" company. Before then, many consumer electronics were sold under the brand name GoldStar,

BTW, you truly are an idiot of you think that I made my earlier post because it's a dual player. You need to think a little before you respond to someone's comments. I was merely commenting on that second generation LG player. Pure and simple. I did not say one negative thing about HD DVD.
FYI, you're a little hypocrite for calling me out like that. This site is full of FUD spewing HD fanatics who do nothing but bash (be negative towards) Blu-ray, Sony, PS3, etc. all day long, so why don't you call them on it then? Don't single me out chief.

The LG players are known to be very buggy. If LG could make a stable player at a decent price it might be worth it. The only thing that may help them lower price right now, is that Toshiba probably isn't going to be charging too much royalty fees.

So, if you think of yourself as a wise person who made a great choice, then why are you lowering yourself to petty name calling? I mean, why even bother?

First of all Vortex, I don't know why you would even fathom of me kissing your ass. (scratch my head on that one) Bottom line is you can say what you want, but it was really the only good news for HD DVD supporters today and you come in here and put this spin on it. Then you say hey I am doing you a favor. Yes I heard about the 800.00 paper weight, but I am hoping they can work the bugs out and develop a quality dual player. Thast why the news for me was encouraging.
Why don't try to be like a few of your fello Blu supporters, who told me in private post on your Blu site, don't be preassured into a PS3, take your time and find what fits your needs. Just go back and read your original post, which was nothing more than pure spin. You come off like you care that alot of people spent alot of $, and you are doing them a favor, please.

It's easy to say things like that when the person you're saying it to is not in front of you, and about to knock your ass out with one blow. You're a little keyboard warrior, hiding behind your hidden identity on some stupid forum. Anyway, I'm done wasting my time conversing with a juvenile. It's you who's pure high school material, don't you forget it.
