So I’m back….
Now that blu has won…
My predictions where correct from my last few posts:
1) With warner going blu, the format war would end shortly after.. not drawn out.
2) There would be co-existing of formats (anyone… anyone Tony/skyhawk ohh I ment bueller bueller ).
For a recap I shortly joined and backed hd-dvd for all the same reasons (felt it was the better product). And believed warner would go Tosh way… till that last minute ditch for blu the night before CES.
Anyway all said and done….this phase of the format war is done. Its blu
I will be going to a gaming convention in SF soon and looking forward to xbox announcement that online retail store Netflix will be providing its movie service through xbox live. ( also heard rumors blockbuster was interested in producing on xbox live as well ). Coupled with the following existing abilities:
1) Windows media center ( dvr )
2) File sharing between pc theater system (sorry ps3 is a pain to configure and does a lousy job at this…even if you use a third party app. such as tversity or what ever you call it)
3) xbox live vs ps store…xbox live hands down ( store is nice and free, but nothing worth downloading with the acception of demo’s and movie trailers ).
4) if you have a hd-dvd drive you also have a great dvd upscaler.
5) funny all these things are secondary.. the primary reason people have a gaming console is to play games..and that’s what the xbox does best. ( not like ps3 where on that platform..it actually is a secondary ability ).
I’m also curious to see if Microsoft will start to produce a blu drive add-on for its console.
If this is the case, I see no reason to go off and get a ps3.
If I do it will be a blu player ( clinch my teeth saying that )…. One of those new Sapphires with bd live, saying they incorporate that new blu ray drive ( the one that suppose to be smaller, cost efficient to produce…ect…) and how much the player will cost initially.
Na…still hate sony.. wait till Samsung or somebody else to come out with a variant.
Peace out.

you may be right that the xbox is a superior machine, i dont know.
I have a ps3 after buying a tosh hd-dvd player. setup was very easy. I had no config problems. As per my post on it, I think its the ideal solution for someone who already bought a hd-dvd player.
If youre someone who already bought an xbox, obviously a second game system might not make sense. Then I dunno, maybe buying a setop is the solution, but if I were buying one, I certainly wouldnt get it from anyone buy Sony, at least for a while.
Downloads that ive seen from apply, etc, look like crap. I would never consider it a solution over BR or HD-DVD. Maybe microsoft will do better.

Actually, most XBox 360 owners using their console as a media center also use Tversity as it provides access to Internet streaming content from PCs in your home as well as codecs unsupported by your XBox or other software.
Anyway, enjoy your game"z"!
Edit: And why on earth would you "dump" your XBox thingy for a PS3? What does that have to do with Blu-ray winning the format war? Or was the title of your thread meant to be melodramatic?

Did I not read somewhere, NetFlix was developing a set top box with LG for the capability to order and download the Hi def movies?
