As long as Javier Bardem gets Best Supporting Actor I don't care about the rest of the awards. That dude was the devil incarnate...bar none the best villain I have EVER seen in a movie.

The Oscar field is different this year. A relatively low-grossing film is almost a lock to win unless the irritating 'Juno' somehow sneaks in. "No Country" looks like the favorite I think "Blood" is too out there for most Academy voters. Out of the nominees, the only movie I have any enthusiasm for is Michael Clayton. Out of the rest of the field, Care Blanchette certainly ought to win. Yesterday I was looking through a bunch of music posters and came upon a picture, I thought "Oh, it's Cate Blanchette," but it turns out it was just Bob himself.
Out of the docs I've seen "No End in Sight" is the best. I think it'll win anyway.
The Foreign Film nominations this year are simply befuddling as the Academy voters passed over every single critically-praised film on the short list in favor of five candidates that hardly anyone even mentioned. I haven't seen any of them, and I don't think anyone other than the Academy selection committee has either. They passed up such huge critical favorites as "Secret Sunshine" and Palme d'Or winner "4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days" in favor of these total obscurities. Who knows? They might be good. I doubt anyone will ever know.
