That is one of the worst movies of all time. But that is just my opinion.

I rented WATERWORLD twice before...

DTS LaserDisc in the 1990s, and DTS DVD when first released.

So-so film, but some nice visuals/action, and a nice DTS soundtrack. Haven't bought or rented the HD-DVD, but would definitely recommend to pick it up if discounted for about $10.

Didn't WATERWORLD make the most expensive mistake in movie making history....

They blew up the 'ATOL BASE' before they were finished with it HAHHAHAHAHAHHA

The HD DVD transfer is worse than the movie quality IMO, and movie quality-wise it's an OK popcorn flick if you turn off your brain for the duration. No such luck with the transfer - as you can't turn off your eyes obviously.

Waterworld is quite possibly the worst movie of all time. Seriously there are much better ways to torment yourself.

At that time (1995) it was the most expensive movie ever made, but it wasn't a flop as it made it's money back worldwide and then some. It cost around $175 million to make and it grossed $264 million worldwide.

The biggest mistake/flop of all time is Cutthroat Island (also released in 1995). It cost $98 million to make and it only grossed $10 domestically in the U.S. It was never even released theatrically worldwide.

Nah, I would vote Ishtar for that one...

Waterworld being the worst movie of all time is just some residue from the anti-Waterworld propoganda during and after the film's release. If you think it's the worst movie ever, you really need to get out more. I could list countless movies that are worse than Waterworld. Norbit? I Know Who Killed Me? Supercross? Date Movie? These are ones that just come to my mind as horrible movies, which are leagues worse than Waterworld.

Anyway, it was the first HD DVD I watched, and it looked great. While it didn't make much compared to the budget, the money did get spent on some great looking sets and locations. The transfer seemed fantastic at the time at 120", but I have seen better HD transfers since. Anyway, as a fun popcorn movie and great eye candy, at a reasonable price, it's worth picking up.
