Wow, I was checking into some information reguarding Anchor Bay's next move after Toshiba leaving HD DVD, and I found this. I haven't seen it posted anywhere, but this would explain, no real word from Paramount.

SD and HD movies have been up for rental on Xbox live for months now. First movie I rented was Crank early last year and it looked great for only being 720p.

Another bump in the Blu-Ray road... The more studios that sign up for HD VoD services, the more they will become a threat to Blu-Ray. And the more attractive these services will look to non-videophiles who don't own HDTV's. i.e.: The majority.

VoD has been around way before Blu ray or HDDVD came to the market. Having or not having an HDTV will not dictate whether Blu ray will be successful. If VoD is such a hot thing DVDs would've been done in a long time ago. And the majority that you speak of complain about cable and sat bills already. My cable bill is $160 per month do you think I'm going to give them on average an extra $30 on RENTING movies when I can get it from NetFLIX. There is nothing attractive about a $190 cable bill.

I guess Paramount/Dreamworks tempted fate with their HD DVD exclusivity deal, and now that Michael Bay is plugging for Verizon FiOS he has moved on to HD Downloads as well, instead of Blu Ray.
Would it not be sad if the Blu FanBoys still didn't get Transformers on Blu Ray??
Hey, don't cry Blu Balls, you can get a Toshiba A3 and Transformers on HD DVD for only $120 now.
