I've read a lot of heated posts over the last few days here from both sides of the HD fence.
Blu-ray fans are shoving HD DVD supporters faces in the dirt.
HD DVD fans are sticking with their format no matter what, vowing never to buy Blu-ray or Sony.
Will this Cold War continue indefinitely, or will we see it fade, perhaps around Christmas time when we will hopefully see more reasonably priced standalone Blu-ray players and a significant number of new releases? Or will summer shine some rays of hope upon us all?

I, for example, would adopt blu-ray as long as they had a 'fully operational' $150 blu-ray player (remember, I bought my 'fully operational' HD-A2 at $98) on the market, that could be upgraded to their future profiles.
One thing that the blu-ray fanboys don't realize, is that Sony now that it doesn't have competition, will slack on their development of blu-ray. Like somebody else said in another post, in the PS3 we get the burden of the blu-ray player. I'm afraid that prices won't go down, and that they might stay the same.

Again, blu-ray won the HD on disc format war, not the whole HD war, but in my POV, downloads will not take off for another couple of years (even though I have the Microsoft theory in which M$ wanted both formats to lose).

Looks like this one is good for the long haul.
Go read some of the comments over on Amazon, the Blu fanboys are screaming mad that they dare to continue to release HD DVD titles, angry requests that all studios immediately scrap their entire HD DVD inventories, and recall existing shelf stock from all retailers.
Has HD DVD been outlawed??
Somehow announcements of any new HD DVD releases are now considered Blasphemy???
Heck, why not go door to door with a SWAT team and confiscate HD DVD players.
Even if the planning had started last year, you likely won't see any decent Blu releases from Universal or Paramount before the summer, and meanwhile HD DVD's continue to sell at a brisk pace.
Why don't people realize that Universal and Paramount aren't about to walk away from the money they continue to earn from HD DVD sales.
They only went FORMAT NEUTRAL this week, Blu Ray releases will take some time to produce.
Just Relax, everybody will get their Blu Ray copy of Transformers as soon as they actually get a chance to manufacture them.

There will be minor skirmishes in forums now if you are determine to hold on to any anger that your format is no longer around than I feel sorry for you.

Dude, What Format is" No Longer Around"???
Do you mean HD DVD??
Toshiba exited the player business, Go yell at LG and Samsung, they are the ones continuing to develop and sell HD DVD players.
Be happy that HD DVD is still around, even if it is only lurking in the shadows, it is the only reason that there are still Blu Ray discount sales.
IF you are a Blu fan, you will soon get every movie title that you want on Blu Ray.

If it's because I can buy an HD DVD player for $99, and you have to pay $399 for a Blu Ray one, that is an issue to take up with the BDA and Sony.
The $99 HD DVD players will sell out soon and no longer be available.
Is the idea of a Blu Ray player continuing to cost $399 an issue??

Check this out VC, you're the one with anger issues, ranting in all of your posts. Maybe because you've had two faulty PS3s

Why would I care about what you paid for an HDDVD player? If you would've said If it's because I can buy a PS3 for $99, and you have to pay $399 for one, than at least your statement would have made sense.

Of course HD DVD owners are going to feel bitter (for a little while, at least 
) at what went down. That's understandable. What is not, however, is some Blu-ray fan's obsession with HD DVD showing any sign of life, rather than shifting their attention towards the joyous moving on with the chosen winner. What HD DVD does now is completely independent of Blu-ray ultimate goal of mainstream adoption by overtaking DVD, but I swear some BDs fans care far more about HD DVD's death than Blu-ray's future. To those haters who have a problem with studios not immediately pulling the plug, stop circling like vultures and let HD DVD be and get on with your own format. Just because Blu-ray won, does not mean HD DVD has to be brain dead. If you're holding your breath for that, you'll probably be disappointed.

Bruce, I just went tru 57 pages of Blu ray movies on AMAZON, and found nothing that I wanted, I only own 12 discs. After saying that do you actually think I would cry if Blu ray went under, NO. Yes, the mere fact that I own only Blu ray says that I do support the format, but that does'nt mean that I would rub it in an HDDVD supporters face that Toshiba dropped the format. I DON'T DO THAT. Time after time have I mentioned that fact that I wanted an HD-XA2. I was looking at prices for the HD-A35 on AMAZON, I don't need someone who thinks they know me to say that I'm angry about about a format that I own very little of and the other that I never invested in. If he would have read any of my previous post he would've never questioned my post.
