I've noticed some announced Blu-ray movies (like the upcoming Juno for example) include a "Digital Copy" for download onto portable devices like video iPods and PSPs. How does this work? Could I transfer this movie version from my PS3 to my son's PSP? Or to my computer via the media center capabilities of the PS3? Or do I need a Blu drive in my computer to access this movie file?

Anyone know anything about this?

Edit: OK, think I found a bit more. Seems to be a Fox and iTunes thing, and a separate disk in included in the set for it:

Yes, currently only Fox is doing these releases that include an unlockable digital copy on a separate disc, but I'm sure more studios will adopt this habit. The only downside (the biggest for me) is that it's an Itunes compatible digital copy, meaning that you have to have the Itunes software on your PC and you have to be a registered user. I can't stand Apple or anything related to it, so this is kind of a downer for me. This digital copy is compatible with Ipods only, and you may have to do some conversion in order for it to work on some other portable devices.

Which translated means its a useless feature for me in its current form. Oh well... I was hoping for a totally unprotected lower res copy that I could easily transfer to my son's PSP.

The latest game informer magazine (hey I got a free subscription) says something about being able to transfer a copy of the BD disk to the PSP. If I find anything else with regards to that I'll post it here.

You can transfer dvd video to PSP using DVD Fab Platinum. Well, at least that's what the product claims... I don't know personally because all I have is fab hd decryptor.

Umm, yeah Hawk, I brought this up when we were all arguing about making copies of digital media.

Sony Blu-Ray releases embed MP4 files that could be transferred to PSP via PS3. Fox releases might contain an iTunes version on a separate DVD disc.

Only Sony embeds PSP versions. The other studios don't care about PSP.

For embedded Fox iTunes movies, the portable copy comes on a DVD so you could make the copy using your PC.

For PSP movie, you need a PS3.

DVD Fab Platinum & Xilisoft's DVD Ripper Platinum 5 (excellent all-in-one) does convert your DVD movies to PSP, but maximum output MP4 resolution at only 320 x 240. PSP's maximum rez is 480 x 272, which the umd movies utilize... the same umd movies that NO ONE CARED to buy.
