After the rash of deleted posts that a moderator who is pissed about HD-DVD losing the format war, I decided that this ANTI-BluRay site is best left to the HD-DVD fanboy posts that don’t get deleted. In the past few days, two posts that I have created have been deleted.

1- Paramount goes back to BluRay
2- A thank you to Warner for creating the momentum to end the format war.

Neither was geared at rubbing the faces of HD-DVD in the mud, but because the mod was pissed, he deleted them.

This is no longer a place to opine, but a place to cry about HD-DVD being a loser format. O and this post will probably get deleted too, because it is not PRO HD-DVD. No matter how many posts get deleted, this board cannot change the facts or turn back time. Blu-Ray won.

Calling HD-DVD a loser is not an insult. In a war, there are WINNERS and LOSERS.

I guess at DVDTOWN.com, where movies matter, if you don't agree with the moderator, you don’t matter.

Bye

What do you expect bowfiend?

Blu-fans have done nothing but show complete immaturity in regards to the format war, and making posts like the Warner post is just asking for a flame war to start. You wanna blame us HD-DVD fans but you don't want to take any responsibility in the role you had to start it all. Sorry, but you sound like a hypocrite when you make a post like you have and then complain when it gets deleted.

Have you ever heard of the term, think before you speak? Well apply that to just before you post. Granted I am not innocent in this format war thing, but I have sunk to the level some Blu fans have, nor will I sit here and let you put the blame on HD-DVD fans. It is your attitude and whining that has led you to this point. You have no one to blame but yourself.

Oh that's real classy.

Funny I don't see even long time Blu-ray exclusive supporters like Tony (who was affectionately referred to as "Sony" here) start threads like this, or even make much of a comment on the outcome of this format war.

For once (or maybe twice now?) I agree with DjfunkmasterG. What did you expect?

I tend to lean toward the word Ignorance when certain posters about HD DVD.

"Ignorance is the condition of being uninformed or uneducated, lacking knowledge or information."

You know Bowfiend, if you were not so anti HD DVD, you might be capable of having a conversation on this board. I can safetly say that the majority of HD DVD users on this board know what Blu-Ray is capable of, and we do realize it will be the future format. At least for now.

I can personally say that many frustrations of many HD DVD owners is why Blu though? For those that believe in the format, we truly(or at least myself) believe that it was the best solution for personal use and consumers. Some of us had personal reasons against Sony, some of us were early adopters, and you could not drag the format from our dead cold hands. Some of us just liked the format due to cost. Whatever the persons reasons for liking a format, simply got disreguarded by certain Blu fanboys. A lot of posters visit this site daily, and it doesn't leave room for discussion on anything when you seen this kind of crap posted in a forum.

BLU RAY WINS!
BLU RAY SCREWS HD DVD
BLU RAY GET UNIVERSAL AND PARAMOUNT
BLU RAY IS THE FORMAT OF CHOICE
BLU RAY IS SO GREAT
BLU RAY EATS TOSHIBA FOR BREAKFAST
BLU RAY TO GET XBOX ADD ON
BLU RAY AND SONY ARE THE BEST
ANOTHER STUDIO GOES BLU!

Seriously, this is how pathetic the majority of your and other posters look! Personally speaking, I don't mind reading the Blu Ray posts, if it's going to be educational, but if its some dumped link and no story of the link, that's what is annoying. It seems like you guys are in some kindo of race to post fluff? I don't get it, but whatever. Well I hope you enjoyed being a killjoy... Good luck in the Blu-Ray cult forum...

Well, to be fair, this site is definitely HD DVD bias, and so are the moderators and owner.

That's just how it is, some sites lean red, others lean Blu.

I think the funny part is that in about a year this site will probably be mostly Blu, as HD DVD will have faded even more from the public eye. I wonder if hddvd.org will still take you here?

Oh, and bowfiend, you'll be back, "they" always come back.

the name hddvd.org was picked long before there was a format war. Long before there were anything called Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. Henning choose it because it seemed like a logical name for the HD format that would come after DVD.

I can't seem to long in to my old name so I had to create another similar!!

As a PC user with an LG Blu-Ray/HD DVD combo drive, I consider myself pretty much transparent to much of the situations going on with this HD war. I do have to say that it is no surprise that Sony won, because they are a well establish company with high brand awareness. As well, I think they were more aggressive in both active and passive marketing of Blu-Ray. I believe that they worked out their gameplan a little more strategically than Toshiba. In regards to superiority, as of right now, I think they are pretty much the same. I think that in the future though, the fact that Blu-Ray does hold more space, that it would eventually overtake HD DVD. I do not know much about the layering technology, but the only way that HD DVD could have possibly beaten Blu-Ray in the future is offer a disc with more available layering than Blu-Ray. Another major factor in the eyes of a PC user is that there are more Blu-Ray burners out there than HD DVD burners. In fact, I have never seen an HD DVD burner anywhere. Anyone with a "techie" background would see this as a major disadvantage...not being able to burn to this media. In fact, I know that this feature could be added to hardware specs pretty quickly, but the fact is that HD DVD hardware manufacturers did not respond quick enough in that aspect.

There are many more (probably thousands of) points to make regarding both sides of the story. This will definitely be studied in marketing classes in the future, because this is by far more of a marketing issue than many people give it credit for. At any rate, what's done is done. You can't unring bells that have already been rung. It will be interesting to see how things go for both formats.

I have been watching many trends in pricing of both discs. I noticed that before the big drop of HD DVD, prices of Blu-Ray discs were fairly low (like average of about $15 each...from watching Amazon, Half, and Ebay closely). After this whole ordeal, prices have risen back up to between $20 to $25 a movie. It is apparent that many people have been watching this HD war for a while now. As a result, many people have embraced Blu-ray, making prices spike quickly on all movies. Hopefully we will soon see a downward price trend take place as the economies of scale come into place and more Blu-Ray discs manufacture and the prices begin to fall. On the other side, it seems that whenever Walmart, Best Buy, and Netflix released their views about HD DVD, the prices of HD DVDs began to fall drastically. You could pick up many titles under $15 on Half and Ebay. This showed that many people were beginning to dump HD DVD. As of now though, it seems that prices have risen minutely after Toshiba announced the discontinuing of player manufacturing. I guess this is due to the people wanting to cash in on cheap discs. At any rate, this whole situation is very interesting indeed. Too bad manufacturers of players could not have followed the way of LG and just make dual format players. The standalones are very expensive, but PC ones are very affordable.

I don't see a very good future for anyone supporting HD DVD right now, but who knows, maybe Toshiba or another HD DVD manufacturer might have an ace up their sleeve that we might see surface in the near future. There is no telling. As for me and many other consumers, I am glad that something finally happened and we can get everything HD in one format. There is nothing like going to a store and wanting to pick up either an HD DVD or Blu-Ray only to discover that it was only released in the opposite format. NOT COOL.
