If you people hate it so much, then why do you post here? And for everyone else... why do you care if these idiots leave? Let them go. They can pat themselves on the back over "their victory" and make all the spam threads they want on some pro-Blu forum all day long for all I care. I know I haven't been here long, but so far I've liked what I have seen. Once you sort through the trolls and spammers there are some really cool and knowlegable people here. I'd like to keept it that way. I say we weed all these assholes out. And no, I am not talking about anyone pro-Blu. If you can't tell the difference between being a BR fanatic and being a troll, then you probably shouldn't be here either.

Not just here, but I've seen this on various forums and I think its absolutely hilarious when people make these "departure threads" as if they think they were important enough they needed to make a thread marking their exit.

I was never happy about having competing formats. Sony and Toshiba really should have listened to each other's arguments about each other's benefits, AND considered where they needed to compromise and come together on one standard, instead of leaving the table in a huff and creating two differing formats. Sony felt storage capacity was more important... Toshiba was looking at a lower cost of HD format - which also meant lower capacity - by utilizing existing DVD manufacturing technology to make HD DVD discs. HD DVD could have gone to a third layer and upped the capacity to 45GB, but that thinking should have come about earlier on. HD DVD also had the web interactive features (from the get go), but blu-ray is now coming around with that (hence, all the fuss about the 2.0 players).

I am glad that the format war is over. Obviously - being an HD DVD owner - I would have preferred that HD DVD was the winner, but that's not what happened. I will eventually buy a blu-ray machine, either an add-on drive for the XBOX 360 (should MS produce one) or a combo unit that plays both (IF a stable, reliable one is made) - or I'll buy a stand-alone blu-ray player, if need be.

I'm not going to be huffing and puffing about the HD DVD format being dropped, or act like a stubborn child and "refuse" to buy a blu-ray player. I am super-glad that we have an HD disc format to enjoy - no matter what the standard! I've read on forums in the past, where people said they weren't going to buy "Star Wars on DVD"... until it was released in a "6-movie boxed set" or on an HD format. Well... you know how long Star Wars has been on DVD now... how many people have died or been killed since Star Wars was released on DVD? No one is going to live forever, and you NEVER know when your number is going to come-up! In this example... if there's a movie you really love and want to see it... don't gripe about it not being released on your preferred format or boxed set (or lack of boxed set)... you get it any way you can and enjoy it.

Who knows... 10 years from now, there might be some 2160p format, and EVERYTHING we are viewing now will be obsolete!

(The key to Sony's success this time around was that its chief executive Howard Stringer,
a former head of the company's North America division, drew on his Hollywood contacts
to drum up support for Blu-ray)

(Forget about customer satisfaction or superiority of image quality.
The real issue in the war between Blu-ray and HD DVD was about royalties)

With Blu/hd only being 1% of the market, good luck at defeating DVD when the avg. person with a good up converter cant tell the difference between blu/hd too dvd except the videophiles ?
( and yes i can too )

Sony only won because they were able to monopolize the market, once they got the majority
of the studios it was only time until the retailers fell into place. It was all about the money no one really cared about the consumer or letting them have a choice in the matter ?
But thats right, blu won because of you guys ^o)

Oh ya i have been banned from bluray.com about 6 times now... LOL

But, yes, in the past month or two, we have had to ban more BD trolls than HD DVD trolls. That's just coincidence and lift.

No I am not a troll, for some reason sometimes I can log into my old account then sometimes not. It doesn't make any sense.

And what do you think JVC did back in the 80's in order to ensure that VHS would prevail then?
