Considering the high costs of the hardware and blank media required, not to mention the questionable legality of process, it would be much easier (and probably cheaper) to wait for the eventual blu-ray release of your flick.

It's too much trouble. Just keep your HD DVD player on your system along with the BD.

I don't see the point. It would be easier, and possibly cheaper to just buy a dual player or to rebuy your HD-DVD collection in Blu-Ray.

I chose to back-up on HD's for now. BR media is still crazy priced!!
