First of all I worked at Wal-mart for 6 years so I have a good idea how that company works. Most of the store follow the same layout format. So I went to the local WM and when I went to look for the HD-DVD's I saw they were all gone, along with the Blu-Ray movies too. They used to be situated on an "endcap" display. The BD was about five movies high by six across shile the HD-DVD was 5 high by 4 across. So when I wasked the WM "associate" (what a bs term
) where were the hd movies she showed me and now they are only on the side counter all the way to the bottom shelf (out of sight) they are only 2 high by 4 across (both formats).
Home Office usually sends the side-counter layouts to all the stores so I'm wondering if WM is not going to give enphasis to hd movies and keep on pushing SD movies. How is the layout in your local store?

The store closest to me completely dropped BOTH Blu-Ray and HD-DVD after christmas and are now using the end display for TV shows on DVD.
Wal-Mart will probably keep pushing DVD because that's at the price point of their average customer. Of course now that I've said that Tim will post some picture of a redneck.

I was just on the phone with a friend who works in Wally-World and... from what I understand the one in town also has their HD Titles in the same place.

My Wal Marts put the BD and HD DVDs (that are left) on an end cap also. But the end cap is all the way at the other end opposite the busy isles. You have to go looking for them, they don't just pop out at you.

Just at my Wal-Mart yesterday and they relocated the Blu-ray and few HD-DVD titles to the front of the isle behind the new release end cap. I was also surprised to see 30 Days of Night on the rack as I though this had a street date of Feb. 26th.

I remember when alot of the hardcore bluers were continually posting the same thread about walmart dropping hd dvd as the sign of the end. I told them then that my walmart was dropping both formats and it was really just an experiment for them. Looks like the trend is extending to more than just my walmart. Wally world could care less either way about formats. All they care about is the bottom line.
