... that the studios that "pledged" HD-DVD exclusive support (Universal, Paramount, Dreamworks) are the first ones to go really blu right after the "ending of HD-DVD operations" announcement by Toshiba and their upcoming HD-DVD movies are either "in flux" or being cancelled by the day and yet, the studio that first announced its intentions of going blu-exclusive and was the catalist for the demise of HD-DVD (Warner Bros.) has stated that all their upcoming HD-DVD titles till May will be released AND that there might be "occacional HD-DVD releases depending on consumer demand"?

Contract or not, don't you think by cancelling HD-DVD operations Toshiba's contract with WB is cancelled as well? If so, such continous HD-DVD support by WB says a great deal about the studio.

Uh... they were the -only- ones left "to go blu"

Yeah, Warner had more titles in the pipeline for dual-format releases, so they are doing the consumer right by keeping those announced titles on the agenda for HD-DVD too.

We'll see about Paramount... and Universal is the strange one, with no possible HD-DVDs planned before summer (I believe) except for Fletch and Atonement.

Well like LH said WB already had a lot of dual format releases in the pipeline. Of course they're also smart enough to know that HDM even combined is a very small market and you might as well make what money you can off of those releases.

I read that Atonement was possibly cancelled and only Fletch and Charlie Wilson's War will be released on HD-DVD.

Source: Universal Plans in Flux. Just scroll down to the article with that name and dated February 22. There you'll find among other things the following paragraph:

"...Though the studio has yet to make any formal announcements, when asked to confirm recent retail reports that it was planning a March 18 HD DVD debut for the Oscar nominee 'Atonement,' a Universal rep told us that the studio's entire HD DVD slate is currently in flux -- leaving open the possibility that it may not issue any more titles in the format.

As for which titles might be affected by such a move, prior to Tuesday's announcement, Universal had only confirmed two upcoming HD DVD releases: the Chevy Chase comedy 'Fletch' (due March 11), and the Tom Hanks-Julia Roberts starrer, 'Charlie Wilson's War' (which had been planned for sometime in the April-May timeframe)...."

Well the way I read that is that they may or may not release it, that it's still kind of in the air.

What did you expect them to do? I really hope we get all the planned HD-DVDs releases and then some, but I just don't see it happening.
