And they're whack...

On a serious note, their Blu-ray releases have generally looked and sounded excellent so far (I've rented most of them). They're also one of the few studios who have used DTS-HD MA on just about every title.

Hey gvortex... yeah, the only Fox Blu-ray titles I own were purchased from the discounted special deals on Amazon last year, with a per-disc cost of about $14 each for Die Hard 1 & 2, FF4: Silver Surfer, The Fly, Kingdom of Heaven, A vs P, Speed, and maybe one or two more (can't remember).

But I will buy some new catalog releases (day/date) regardless of a sale, such as PREDATOR when released soon (April 15). Usually I buy from Amazon, since they offer a discounted price, no sales tax, and FREE shipping (orders over $25 - very easy to do).

Note: I also have the 2-disc SpEd Predator set in my collection, so I don't care if not all of it's bonus features get ported over to the Blu-ray (or not).

I have 2 Fox releases, I got Kiss of the Dragon as one of my free movies and Eragon because I did'nt know any better about the nose bleed prices.

Predator is one of my all time favorites (of any kind of movie) and I also have the special edition versions of both part 1 and 2, but I've heard from somewhere that the Blu-ray version has a disappointing PQ. I hope it's not true but at the same time I'm also aware of the fact that 80's film stock is generally pretty bad, so there is only so much you can do for certain movies. Just look at Robocop or Wall Street as examples.

I've seen Eragon and even though it's somewhat childish I still found it to be pretty entertaining. I loved Jeremy Iron's character in it. As far as the PQ and AQ are concerned, they're just about reference quality.
I have yet to see Kiss of the Dragon on Blu-ray, but I've heard from numerous sources that it's a little bit disappointing. I really like this movie and I'd consider buying it eventually, but I need the audio and video to be top notch. It's only 6 years, so I don't see why it shouldn't be great. Tony, what's your take on it?

I will never buy Fox BDs from BB, CC, or Walmart. Their prices are nose bleeders. It's only AMAZON for me. This is why I shop AMAZON not only because of the good prices but because I just recently bought Ratatouille and I check my emails from AMAZON and it said that UPS delivered it and I signed for it. I was shocked to say the least because I never received a package. I called UPS and they said that they could'nt do anything about it and call AMAZON. Called AMAZON and they said no problem we will ship you another one free of charge and you will get it the next day. I won't even buy from AMAZON 3rd party sellers.

EDIT: I love Martial Arts movies especially Jet Li movies so I can only tell you that the fighting/action is first rate, I love all of his movies but PQ is great for an MPEG2 and audio is dts HD/MA. Eragon, I wish I never spent the $35 bucks to get it because it really sucked

Gvortex... well, I'm not aware of any early review yet for the Blu-ray Predator - ??

I certainly hope it gets a decent HD transfer, otherwise if the regular review sources (DVDTOWN, HighDefDigest, DVDVerdict, DVDTalk etc) rate it poorly, then I'll just rent it, and wait for a discount sale (or BOGO sale etc) before purchasing. Note: yes, I avoided Robocop too, and will stay content with that last SpEd set (w/the Director's cut) on DVD.

Some people on Blu-ray.com got their hands on the Japanese Blu-ray version which has been out for a while now, and they've said it was grainy as hell. Just like the previous DVD versions. I'd venture to guess even more so because of the greater level of detail available in high-def.

gvortex... Film grain is natural, is no bother to me. Viewers today need to learn that it's part of the director's choice (and his DPhotography), and will be even more obvious in HD. So, I'm more concern about the quality of the film-print, it's color accuracy, HD remastering, and audio codecs.

Note: Films with visible heavy grain, such as 300, Miami Vice, U2-Rattle & Hum, etc - it's a deliberate choice of the director that the film look that way, and is not representative of the studio's remastering quality.

As for Predator, I did a check tonight, and right now there is already a Swedish Blu-ray release [region-locked], and the Japanese Blu-ray version which you mentioned (but I don't know if it's region-free or locked). Doesn't matter as I will wait for the Region A version that Fox is releasing here in North America etc.
