Blu-ray haters rejoice! One more reason for you all not to get one.

For all you Blu-ray haters out there, if you thought that $1000 or even $400 was too much to pay for a Blu-ray player now, wait till you get a load of this machine. A genuine, super high-end Swiss CE manufacturer Goldmund just announced their first foray into the Blu realm with their Eidos 20 BD modeled universal Blu-ray player. They're taking preorders now, and you can have this beauty for a hair under $17,000. I know you're all gonna be all over this one.

The kicker is that nobody seems to know if it's even profile 2.0 capable :p

Would there really be a noticeable difference in picture quality between using this thing or a PS3? Maybe the audio would sound better but not by THAT much.

To tell you the truth, I don't know whether or not it'll be BD Live capable, but I'm almost certain that it will be at least profile 1.1 capable and that it will decode all audio options. Including DTS-HD MA. Trust me, a machine like this will definitely have a noticeable PQ (for the better) difference when compared to the PS3. It is a universally known fact that the $1000 Pioneer Elite Blu-ray players have had the best picture among all the players out there thus far, so I can imagine that a unit of this stature would take it up a notch or two beyond that.

I guess I better get not 1, but 2 of them.

I need a good spare for when the other one is sent back out for warranty repair every 6 weeks.
