I recently purchased a Region 1 DVD entitled: "Gene Hackman Triple Feature". As the title implies, it contains 3 movies: The French Connection, Hoosiers and Mississipi Burning. (As I acquired it for resale, I haven't opened it yet, but judging by its weight, it contains more than one DVD disc.)
In any event, because it is for resale, I wanted to find more information about the product, so I ran a search for both the title and the UPC through google, yahoo, msn, Amazon.com, bestbuy, barnes and noble, etc., but so far no matches at all. It is as though this product doesn't exist. On the back of the keep case, it states that it is an MGM / Fox release, 2007. Above the UPC on normal R1 DVDs it usually states "Proof of Purchase", but this one has no writing, only the number "51" in the upper right corner above the UPC bars.
This is the UPC: 8 8390410138 3
Can anyone tell me what in the heck do I have here? An unidentified coded item.
(P.S. I purchased it at a retail store in the US.)

I forgot to mention that there is no ISBN number listed on the DVD, either. Do you think that this is some kind of a bootleg? As mentioned above, it says it is from 2007. The packaging certainly looks legitimate and the description indicates it is a Region 1.
Most R1 UPC codes I've dealt with begin with "0". Is there special significance to codes beginnng with "8"?
I don't understand why there does not seem to be any record of this product - anywhere!

Let's see if Deep Throat appears with any info...
EDIT: Where did you buy the item? If it's not from a brand name store, more than likely is a bootleg...

Oh, I see, it's one of those triple features packs. Then I wouldn't worry about it. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know how to help you get the info.

Is it common for multi-features to have unrecorded UPCs, or at least no ISBNs?
It looks to be a quality product (you know, not one of those thin package dvds with no scene selections you get for a buck). It is a regular release keep case with quality art work, and apparently more than one disc inside. (It seems to have more than one disc judging by its weight. Unfortunately the box does not say how many discs the "triple feature" is supposed to have. I haven't opened it because I plan to resell it.)

Most of the bootleg copies of movies I've seen in Asia actually looked more professional than the real thing released in America - including DTS sound (when the US version had DD only), and even containing extra features collected from various sources and very nicely assembled. Of course, they were charging at least $2 for those ones!

A great big "Thank you" to everyone who has posted so far. Although I don't consider myself a great expert on DVDs, I have sold them for a few years. This is the first one I have come across with this sort of Unidentified UPC.
If anyone else has any ideas as to how I can properly identify this "Gene Hackman: Triple Feature", R1 DVD, your suggestions - and guesses - are welcome here! Please let me know.
Thanks again!
