How much is it worth? Do you agree with the following?
A CD should be $5
A regular barebones movie-only DVD should be $10
A two-disc special edition DVD should be $15
A hi-def disc with all special features in HD $20
A complete season of a TV show $30
Am I being unfair? What do you think?

lol @ Steve :p
I agree some of those prices but CD's for $5 is too low. I think $10 is fair for CD's and I agree with $20 for HD movies.

however compnys know to set a price higher, when is first released, for people who gotta have the latest, then lower it.
you need to think about that aswell.

This is a no brainer. Everything should be FREE! That way we wouldn't need an income and no one would have to work anymore

A cd platter costs roughly 3-5 cents to make for these corporations (maybe even less) in mass production, that goes for movies too.
I can't see myself spending $5 for a cd, where only 2 of the 12-16 tracks are favorable to my ears. $10 movies... I do that now on ebay.
Blu ray movies... NEVER RETAIL. I'll consider BOGO if the selections is good (so far it ain't). Rental at best.

Remember when Pizza Hut had a promotion a few years back, they called it Family Night at The Movies. They had certain SD DVD's you got for free when you bought a family combo deal. See I think that is cool when they do things like that.
There was also a certain cereal company, not sure which one, that if you collected 5 coupons on the box. You got to pick from a list of SD DVD's that you got for free by mail.
Years ago, before DVD, McDonald's used to run a free VHS deal during the Holiday season. I would love to see more of this especially with Blu Ray (see I said Blu Ray first) and HD DVD.

I tend to buy CDs when they're on special at $9.99...but I think $7.50 would be fine. But why would you buy a CD that has only 2 songs that you like? I'd rather download them for '99 cents' each (or whatever cheaper price Wal-Mart has it) and just have those, thou sometimes you'd be surprised how good some CDs might be (Stadium Arcadium's Mars is great, Jupiter not so much).
And I also tend to buy a movie/show that I really, really, really like when it's first released and is lower in price. And sometimes I buy it when its on sale around $10 for a movie, or $19.99/$24.99 for a show.
But think about it, those are fair prices that are more accessible to everyone, specially the barebones DVD that might/should go even lower, at $7.50. All of these, regardless of how much it costs to manufacture, think also of royalties...

Broooooo Ray . . .
Yeah, I don't think I'd agree with the $5 CDs, but the other prices seem to be fair. Not that I wouldn't mind $5 CDs, but I just don't see it as a reality. Now, IMO, classic old material on CD should be $5 (Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Three Dog Night, etc.). I think it's highway robbery when Best Buy or FYE sells something like "Eagles - Hotel California" for $18.99! My thought is, didn't that band make all their money back in the 70s when the album was released? Oh, well, greed knows no boundaries.

OK, $7.50 CDs, but remember about the 99cents songs that we can download, that's why I said $5. And I don't think that just because it's old, it should be cheaper, it should be priced the same (not higher either). But again, my post won't change anything...
