Some mornings and at other times, I found my PS3 had turned on all by itself. This bugged me, as it does use power and I figure when I leave a disk in it's putting wear and tear on the drive and stuff for nothing. This reminded me of a certain Jeep I bought not too long ago that needed a firmware upgrade to correct the problem!

I didn't want to say anything here about it, because I knew the anti-Sony/PS3 HD DVD fanboys would be all over this one and nothing constructive would be said. So I finally figured out the problem...

I leave the Blu-ray PS3 remote on this little side table in my HT room, and once in awhile I forget to close the door all the way. Well when the cats can come in, that table is their favorite place to get on top of. It turns out that when any button on the PS3 Blu-ray remote is depressed, the player turns on. I finally found out about this just yesterday, when I was reading there and one of the cats comes in and steps/sits on the remote and the PS3 turned on! So I've fixed this PS3 bug by ensuring the door is closed so the cats can't get in.

Skyhawk, Skyhawk, Skyhawk, that bluetooth remote is sooooo sensitive. No matter what button you push on it, it starts the PS3. Since you only use your PS3 for movies I recommend that you put the controller up as well. After a little wear and tear they start to have a mind of their own (pausing, rewind, and forwarding movies for no appearent reason). After playing games I tell the PS3 to turn off all controllers and just use my remote.

I don't think my controller battery has been charged since I got my remote... that's probably a bad thing right? Perhaps I should plug it in and ensure I don't kill the battery in case I do get a game someday. Anyway, the controller itself has been in the cabinet for over 6 months, and is pretty virgin after only 3 days use of trying to navigate blu-ray movie menus with it.

But yeah, that bluetooth remote is very sensitive, and you don't have to press the buttons very hard either. The fact it doesn't have to point at the machine is a plus and a minus. A minus if you have CATS! I now consider this a serious blow against the Blu-ray format!

mvckalel if you're not ready for a PS3, we do have a friend who volunteers for the Humane Society and has two kittens you might like - they got their first shots and everything. But she insists they must go as a pair. One is an orange tabby and the other a gray tabby. Very cute and cuddly. Just hide your PS3 Blu-ray remote if you want this package!

And here I thought my psychic power were working.

"Mess with Skyhawks PS3...Mess with Skyhawks PS3...".

Glad you got it figured out though. Sounds like an episode of the X Files.

Actually my cat loves to watch TV. Her favorite movie is Rambo, if you can believe that.

mvckalel, I've been LMAFO for awhile now after reading that. I honestly don't know what to say in response, except that "they'll at least play the movie" from my experience, and what's what counts right?
