As the title notes, isn't it ironic that WB still continues to issue new releases on HD DVD as well as BD while Universal and Paramount cannot seem to get away from the HD DVD format fast enough...

Maybe I'm just being anal vocabulary guy, but Warner isn't the savior of HD DVD. Savior is defined as "a person who saves, rescues, or delivers." If anything Warner was a giant piece of HD DVD going up in smoke. HD DVD has been taken out back, shot between the eyes and buried. Warner is making nice with the consumers by continuing to release in the format. DreamWorks is looking out for its own rear end, legally speaking. Universal and Paramount have already jumped ship.
To be a savior, there has to be something to save. With Toshiba pulling support, there is nothing to save.

Nice prose Jason!
Again, Warner's decision to become "Blu-ray exclusive" starting in June was the MAIN CAUSE the dominoes fell on HD-DVD recently(!), which then led to others abandoning the format as well (Walmart, Netflix, Best Buy, Target, etc). Had Warner stayed neutral, HD-DVD would still be alive, but also a distant 2nd to the more popular-selling Blu-ray format (especially the disc sales).
And as others have stated here much the last 3-4 months, outside of North America, the popularity of Blu-ray is much greater than HD-DVD among consumers. The PS3 is a definite factor in this, but also the GREATER CONTENT available by those major studios and music companies supporting Blu-ray.

What WB is issueing on HD DVD was already in the pipeline at the time of their withdrawal. Once those are gone, WB HD DVD is gone for good. They could possibly issue an HD DVD of a future blockbuster movie if they get greedy, but that's unlikely.
