Since Toshiba officially bowed out, what are the Blu-Ray sales numbers. Has there been a huge spike in sales? Or, is the price of the player/movies keeping everyone on the side line.

Prior to the announcement, you would always get a troll on here posting a fancy chart. Where are they now?

If everyone is waiting for the next Blu-Ray BOGO sale, it may be a long wait.

If they have nothing to compare to it, why would they report it.

Of course the graph I would love to see is the comparison of SD DVD to Blu Ray sales.

The BDA would really love that information being released, that SD DVD actually outsells Blu Ray by more than 100:1.

Another reason to believe the NDS sales group was being paid by Sony to release the sales. You mean to tell me BD can't compare current sale figure against the week/month/year before?

What sales? IT'S STAGFLATION SEASON!

Will it get better for the format this Holiday Season? Only if the economy gets out of this BIG HOLE.

It's a temporary HYPE that will get nowhere, unless we see them boxes selling for $99.... RETAIL!

Not sure where you are getting your data but we are not in stagflation, or even a recession. Stagflation would require 10% unemployment and 10% inflation rate. School is now out of session.

Such DENIALS. It must be lonely living there in a fox hole. YOU'RE ABOUT 6 MONTHS BEHIND ON REALITY.

If you believe the RECORD HIGH foreclosures, low spending rate for 2007, inflation, AND GASOLINE HIKE, does not indicate STAGNANT flow of spending & increased in prices FOR EVERYTHING... then you haven't checked with the OUTSIDE WORLD lately.

Let's see:

-Gross domestic product went from 4.9% during the 3rd Q of 07 to only .6% druing the 4th Q.
-Sears sales down 40% compared to last year.
-Target is closing stores.
-Gasoline prices at an all-time high.
-Euro is at $1.50USD per 1EU. New high since 1999.
-Nation wide budget cuts specially in education, California alone needs to cut $140 BILLION in spending to balance its budget. BTW, in case you didn't know, California is the 5th largest economy in the World! What wrong with that picture???
-It took the Dow Jones eight months to go from about 12,000 points in Feb 07 to a record high of 14,000 in Oct 07. But it only took 4 months to go back down to 12,000. Just today the DJ lost 112 points.
-And the list keeps on growning.

richiro, just because the current economic situation does not match the textbook definition of an stagnet economy, it doesn't mean is not happening. We are one step shy (if not there already) of a recession, and the economy IS stagnet. Come on, GDP went from almost 5% to almost .5% in only 3 months! Wake up and smell the coffee.

Well hopefully the mass fire sale of HD-DVD players will help out.
