You say you are a mexican. Not that there's anything wrong with being a mexican, but are you in the U.S. legally? I do have a problem with people coming here and trying to make MY country like their country.

How can you assume he's trying to make your country like Mexico? And if not, how does this add to the conversation? I'm sure he's conforming to your exact image of what a good American is supposed to be. I bet he's even given up beans and rice for steak and potatoes!!! Oh wait. Steak and potatoes is Canadian... isn't it?

Oh all this is very confusing. I think I'll have "adobong pusit" with rice for dinner tonight just to be different!

Tim, I can understand the American point of view. You shouldn't make fun of it!

Last time I was in Manhattan and hailed a cab, a Mexican chap with a guitar and a big hat on a donkey picked me up! I would have put in a complaint, but to be honest we did beat all the Yellow cabs in the city by taking the sidewalks and just stepping round them. I ended up tipping him pretty good in the end.

God, I just love racial stereotypes!

Just to end the controversy, I thought that Veteran's comments were racist and ignorant, period...

As for the title of the thread, it did sound gay, lol, just a bit...

EDIT: Oh, and I won't fall for VV games...

It's actually good to learn another language. Studies have shown it stimulates the brain in the ways of becoming sharper and more keen -- plus there's that added benefit of being more cultured in the world. In many first world countries it's common to have more than one language. I think Canada has both languages, English and French!

The only reason any country claims to have an official language is due to government cost and spending. If the US were to make Spanish one of our official languages then the gov would need to fork up the cash for spanish books in schools and teachers, which I'm sure the gov would tack up as a billion+ dollar deal. Now VV's point of view comes across as the rightwing, conservative that is all hell bent on saying what is right just because it's right -- there's no ryhme or reason other than ignorance and fear which leads everyone to throw up the race card.

it's about right and wrong, and about maintaining our way of life - AND not becoming a third world country (which is the way the USA is headed)!

So, are you blaming the German immigrants forcing you to learn German, or the Mexican immigrants forcing you to learn Spanish that has caused the USA to head toward third world status? I'm confused!

Anyhoot, income disparity along with a hierarchal social system largely delineated by race is what has sustained rich white folk. The US isn't the first country to adopt such a system, nor will it be the last. You should be glad. And quit preaching Lou Dobbs material. It's very tiresome.
