Sony, we know you're trying hard, which is why we think it must sting all the worse when you wake up to sales figures like this. According to a report, the Wii outsold PS3s in Japan 4-to-1 in the month of February, and its games dominated bestseller lists. What does that look like in cold, hard numbers? Nintendo moved 331,627 consoles over the month, while Sony only managed 89,131 units in the same time. But wait, there's more: in January, the ratio was 3-to-1, which means that Nintendo's lead seems to be growing as the year moves forward. Still, Sony could have it worse, the Xbox 360 only scraped up a paltry 14,079 Xbox 360 sales in that same span of time.

If you try really hard you MIGHT be able to make a case for this being a thread suited for the HD DVD and blu ray forum.

DVDTown, where console games matter... or something like that. Anyway, it's not surprising that this format war attracted a lot of kiddies here.

Actually I'm 42. And I put this post up to show that the ps3 isn't the ultimate entertainment solution to everyone. I will eventually get a blu-ray player, after profile 2 comes out and the prices drop. But I and many of the people I know- younger, mid twenties, even forties have no interest in the ps3 as a gaming system or a blu-ray player. Some feel their being force fed a ps3. I'm not against the ps3. I have seen the graphics on the ps3 and they're quite impressive. But when I get my Blu-ray player it will not sit on the floor. And when I get my gaming system it will be a wii.

But our 9 year old daughter could beat your butt anytime on her Wii, she's really good! If you dare, all your base are belong to her!
The rest of us adults will pick the best combined Blu-ray playback and media server option availabe for the money today. But thanks anyway

tluvstech, OMG you're right!
We adults are buying the Wii for it's Blu-ray playback and media center qualities over the PS3. You're link was right on! I have to switch my daughter's Wii with my PS3 tonight under the cover of darkness. Think she'll notice?
I'm sorry, but I have a hard time believing you're over 14 at the very most. Enjoy your Wii. My daughter loves it, and I bet most families around here have one for their kiddies. It's been very successful! So enjoy it.
Edit: It's just not really the most relevant subject given the site you happen to be on. There are kiddie gaming sites I'm sure your parents still allow you to access?

Yeah.... didn't someone here post recent strong sales results for PS3 growth, and mentioned that the Wii is starting to run out of customers for it's primary demographic?

If you check other sites you will see that many people who plan on getting a blu-ray player are waiting...for a cheaper STAND ALONE player! BTW when I was first shown a wii it was by a 27 YO man, then again by a 37 YO man who is in the IT field. And another 42 YO single man who has one. And I suppose all those wii players sold are just for kids.NOT!!! And this is appropriate for this site because it shows that Sony's plan for a entertainment/gaming system is flawed. That's why they keep firing their execs!!! Just ask Phil Harrison.

One can assume that Harrison may well be the latest head to roll in the wake of the poor performance of the PlayStation 3--the next-generation video game console that launched with gigantic expectations but has wallowed in third place, trailing Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360.
The April departure of Ken Kutaragi, the so-called "father" of the PlayStation, was widely assumed to be a result of the PS3's poor sales
