If you read the post is not so much about the wii as it is of Sony's plan not working.

I've noticed that other sites say it's 3-1. As s gaming console I personally don't like it because to me (this is just my opinion) it's not geared to online gaming like the 360 and PS3. You can't network it like the PS3 and 360. You definitly can't use it for HDDVD or Blu ray since it can't even play SDVDs.
The gaming aspect of your obsevation my be partially correct as the PS3 does lack in the game department, but your entetainment point is far off, how do you think they won the war with HDDVD...the Blu ray capablitites of the PS3, and I'm going to speculate that you don't own a PS3 nor have you experienced and indepth first hand look of the systems capability. If you have then you would have a different perspective. As for people wating for a cheaper SA Blu ray player IMO that's early HDDVD adaptors who don't like the idea of a gaming system for Blu ray playback and want a SA Blu ray player with the same functions they got from HDDVD. I've had 3 people actually go out and buy a PS3 after I gave them a full demostration of what the machine is capable of.

Just to point something out... I'm 20 years old and I have a Wii... yeah I'm a little younger then most of you old fogies but still. My friend... 20... has a Wii, DS... Hell he eve goes back as far as Game Boy Advanced, N64, SNES... We're gamers. There are adult gamers out there with Wii's and such... And adult gamers buying PS3's for Games... and maybe some Blu-Ray action.

Mike, I'm 39 and I love SNES. Games like Super Metroid, Castlevania, Street Fighter, and Mario Bros. were my favorites. As a matter of fact I have an SNES emulator with 30 games on my PC, but after SNES I lost my feel for Nintendo. I never was a fan of handhelds and now I prefer to play games with digital sound and picture.Maybe that's just me.

Tony, Today's handhelds are Digital Picture and Sound... so.. yep.
I'm actually trying to get rid of my Sony PSP... useless hunk-a-junk.

Though this topic was not presented in the best possible way, I understand what the OP was trying to say. Even though BR has won, sales of the PS3 have not increased dramatically, and worst is the fact that this is in Japan where BR had what - 90% penetration?
tluvstech, maybe you should have indicated that to keep it more in line with the site's purpose. Not trying to be too critical, but I know that some people here who own a PS3 bought it for it's BR capabilities primarily. The format may have been brought to success because of gamers, but it has now found it's way to the homes of movie lovers. I for one don't like the PS3 enough to purchase it for BR playback - I need games for it. When you look at the overall value of the PS3, it's a great deal for the dollar, but it's a shallow value to me. Sony can gloat about their baby all day long, but it just doesn't have enough soul for me.

So,
I'm 31 and a wii owner. The novelty of the wii wore off for me pretty quick. However, my kids really love it so we'll keep it. From my standpoint, the wii lacks a few things to make it a serious gaming console:
1. Adult oriented games
2. 3rd party applications (good ones)
3. strong graphics processing
4. control that limits gaming possibilities.
5. media playback capabilities.
With that said, obviously the Wii is doing very well and that is probably good for Nintendo. So if you are looking for a gaming console, the 360 provides the 3rd party support where the PS3 is missing (though possibly/probably) going to catch up. And now, if you are a gamer and would also like to watch hi-def media, then the PS3 is the obvious choice (insert 360 blu ray exception here).
I by no means make spectacular money, but to pick up a wii, ps3, and if I really wanted a 360 is really not outside my financial realms and would imagine that a large percentage of the people in my age bracket could say the same.
To end, the PS3 is still the best option if you want to ensure blu ray obsolescence. The 360 provides gamers with the (arguably) the best games in the console market. The wii is perfect for a supplemental gaming system and families.
BTW, this post does not belong here.
