HT Room Furniture

Today we bought a "regular" leather reclining sofa and love seat for the HT room to replace the uncomfortable chairs. I used to have a goal to make my HT room as much like a real theater as possible, but I decided comfort and cozy cuddling is better even if it looks more like a conventional living room. So no fake ticket counter no giant popcorn machine.

They had a reclining sofa/chair set all in black leather that was made for HT rooms, and had these 2 wedge shaped cup holder units separating the sofa and two chairs. They locked together in this half-round shaped thing. Very cool, because the each of the leather cup holder thingies had lift up compartments that were insulated and made to hold ice (for no running to the fridge for beer). Unfortunately that one costs more than $5,000. I didn't like any of the other cheaper HT sets, so just went with the nice reclining regular sofa and love seat. It's so darn comfortable with my feet up, I hope I can get through a movie without falling asleep!

I'm such a movie freak that when I get the chance to have an HT room I'm going all the way with the movie theater theme. Spot lights, screen courtain, four large chairs (two front, two behind elevated on a platfrom [pallet]), popcorn machine, either 50+ inch tv or HD projector, maybe even a small marquee at the entrance of the room.

Ahhh, is so nice to dream. lol

Yes, the chair is almost as important as the AV equipment. (Maybe more.) I learned that many years ago. Today, since it's only my wife and I watching the TV most of the time, we have a two-seater, deep-cushion, reclining lounger. A genuine couch-potato's dream. You can almost lie flat out on it when the foot rest is up and back is down, and it's easy to fall asleep in it during a really bad film. I know. I've done it.

having a H.T. room is an awesome thing to have, especially for movie geeks like ourselves...

1. I have a sony 60 inch LCD screen.
2. A Toshiba HD DVD player.
3. A Sony PS3... for blu-ray movies ONLY...
4. A Sony 7.1 surround sound receiver.
5. A 7.1 Klipsch surround sound speaker set up.
6. Three Italian leather chairs with matching foot rest's.
7. A ceiling fan just in case.
8. A walk in closet for for my HD DVD'S, BLU-RAY DVD'S and the slew of standard dvds I have.
9. And last but not the least, I have wall to wall movie posters... all thanks to my wife for allowing me to indulge in my past time hobby, THX:-}...

We need to be able to show HT Pics here! I was looking at a small popcorn maker and popcorn bowls that are shaped like movie theater popcorn bags and are decorated with Disney movie stuff!
We all have HT rooms BUT We have taken our Projector outside on a tripod and do summer movie nights! Mostly for the kids though!

Well, I'm less likely to fall asleep during a film I actually bought for my own pleasure. I've been known to spend four hours or more getting through a two-hour movie I had to review. Indeed, the worse the movie, the longer it usually takes me to get through it, what with naps, bathroom breaks, snacks, and simply getting up and gazing out the window to relieve the tedium.

John, it must be generational since we are both fall into the same age demographic (I'm being nice here). We have the exactly same type of chair. From that vantage point, my screen is right at eye level when I'm semi reclined (feet horizontal). I have several friends who have wall mounted tvs at real high painful angles, a couple with the usual over the fireplace mounts, which I absolutely hate. I am planning to put a wall mount cheepie in the bedroom this summer (a Visio or something like that), and that one will be fairly high, but, then again, I'll be reclining when I watch it. I'll probably never make through a movie on that one.
