Can we all agree, in principle, and understanding that none of us are infallible, that we will all TRY to not allow emotional attachment to our inanimate technology color our logical discussion of topics, or what I call the "fruit factor?"

Well said, but it has been said before. Too big of a percentage of posters would rather be abusive and repetitive, and therefore nothing will ever change. Maybe when the dust settles on the Blu/HD DVD "war", things will get a bit better.
