Tim you're a funny mofo. I gotta give you an A+ for originality. I think I will start communicating with my co-workers the same way (with pictures and subtitles). It would definitely save me the hassle of having to deal with some of them in a more up close and personal manner, plus it may help drive some points across more clearly.

Don't be idiots and anyway there is a future proof bluray player right now at 399$...
Only problem with the PS3 that is that it doesn't decode all audio tracks. I'm sure someone will list them out.
I also think studios should start releasing combo discs on blu.

enc66, only one. For DTS HD Master Audio, it only outputs/decodes the DTS 1.5Mbps core. We're all anxiously waiting for the firmware update that will give us this.

I don't think there's any good excuse for BR hardware prices to go up. Prices had been going down, little by little maybe, and now they spike back up? I don't think that dvd player prices fluctuated like this, but...whatever. I really don't care, it's just one more reason not to go blu for now. What's really great about 2.0 is that it will keep prices high. When 2.0 players are released, there's no way that they are going to be sold at a lower price than what 1.1 players are being sold for right now. It's kind of like digital camera prices, they always stay about the same. Prices fell with the early generations of cameras, but now, as resolutions increase, it keeps the prices pretty consistent. It's a never ending process because the technology will always continue to get better, just like with computers. Long story short, if BR profiles keep going with more features after 2.0, then we can expect prices to hover within the same neighborhood that they are in now, while they sell 'cheapy' broken players at a more affordable price. That is a major difference from DVD players, which had the majority of players affordable for a long time, while expensive units remained for video enthusiasts which offered better capabilities - features which didn't necessarily affect the average consumers because to take advantage of said features required additional components.
Let's hope profiles stop at 2.0 and that afterwards the evolution of the BR format mimics that of DVD.

It has nothing to do with holiday pricing. If HD DVD were still in the game, the prices of Blu-ray players would still be going down or remaining steady.
I've already got my PS3, but I just can't agree that prices are spiking because the holidays are over.

Where I work I'm known as the office clown (imagine that). Picture humor is just something I ran into on accident four or five months ago. I do use it at work in my emails to the company President, CTO and some guys I work with in the UK. They all crack up at some of the stuff I come up with. However, I feel anyone can do it if they have enough witt. It's like anything with comedy, it's all in the timing and delivery. I will admit, though, that sometimes I just blindly post a picture knowning it may not have anything related to the current conversation. And that's where I get to laugh because I can just imagine people looking at some picture I posted saying, "What the hell's that supposed to mean??!!"

-I don't know if this source has been posted yet, so...
> Sony Electronics President says $299 Blu-ray players by Christmas
Blu-ray player prices should hit $299 by the end of the year and probably $200 by 2009. Glasgow estimated that there will be 5 million standalone players sold this year worldwide with 75 to 80 percent sold in the United States. And as for HD broadband downloads, “it will happen, but it won’t derail a packaged format for a decade.”
