I know it's not just me, Will Ferrell needs a new gimick. He has gone from actor (if you even want to call him that...) to Court Jester. I guess that acting troupe finds it funny to blurt out any odd-combination of words and expect the general public to think that incoherent yelling is entertainment.

Any one else ?

Did you ever see him in "Stranger than Fiction"? He's totally not the usual Will, and the film is really a meloncoly drama rather than a light comedy. The guy proves he can act when given the appropriate part. Nevertheless, he is a comedy actor and will most likely have a hit & miss career (e.g. Robin Williams).

Old School is a classic in my books and I have to admit I liked him in Elf. It would be nice to see him try some range and maybe take some different roles though.

You are not the first person to recommend the film. I will have to check it out sometime. I appreciate when an actor tries to re-invent himself (Adam Sandler, Robin Williams and even Jim Carey). I suppose he'll never get away from his bread and butter though...especially when he's raking in the money. The only film I actually enjoyed that he was his usual self was Elf.

I loved him in:
Talladega Nights
Old School
Elf (destined to be an x-mass classic)
Zoolander
Stranger Than Fiction (shows his range on this one)

I also enjoyed the few cameo's he's appeared in, such as "Wedding Crashers". Of course there have been a few things he's done that just didn't do it for me, "Blades of Glory" and I hear his new film isn't getting a warm reception from critics. I liked a few things about "Anchorman" but the overall movie was just weird.

Keep in mind, Will is still early in his movie career and the guy actually has more hits than misses so far. True that many actors get stereotyped into roles but I think Will has shown he is willing to take on different parts as he did in "Stranger then Fiction", so give him time and I'm sure we'll see a wider range in years to come.

That's inevitable, no one can keep up that routine forever.
