FYI... (received an email notice)

The Discovery Channel store has expanded their SALE-priced HD-DVD selection today, which now includes the 4-disc SUNRISE EARTH HD-DVD package, which includes 13 of the most popular Season 1 episodes (almost 12 hours of HD content!) - just $24.95 - Free Shipping too (on HD-DVD orders).

These amazing programs are presented in 16:9 widescreen format and 5.1 surround sound, and have been regularly broadcast on the HD Discovery Channel. Also available on Blu-ray ($59.95) at the regular price (not part of the clearance sale), and standard DVD ($49.95).

I placed my order, and also save another $5 (from a coupon code granted after signing up for their email list).

That's a GREAT deal. I watch Sunrise Earth everyday @ 10:00 am on the Discovery HD channel. I have to be careful though...I have it on while I read my college material and find myself being lulled to sleep by the 'sounds of the earth'...hehehe

I ordered mine like two weeks ago and I never received it. I need to call them to see what happened.

wii-lite... you must be talking about the 'Planet Earth' set (which I and others also ordered then and recently received). The program I've mentioned in the above link is for the their SUNRISE EARTH series of programs - which is different.

I don't know Falcon... but it's not relevant for most of us with either a 1080p HD-DVD player, or a TV that accurately deinterlaces 1080i content - like you and me both have, with our identical 50" Pioneer KURO plasmas.

An HD-DVD player with 1080p capability will deinterlace a 1080i disc inside the player, and then send it as progressive to the TV. Or, you can send it unprocessed in native 1080i (interlaced), and let the TV deinterlace to the set's native resolution (1080p, 768p, or 720p), but usually the player does deinterlacing better than the TV - (Pioneer is one of the few exceptions, as it deinterlaces just as good as any HD-DVD or Blu-ray player).
