I need help please. As I mentioned before I am in the market to buy a new A/V Reciever and I found two Pioneer recievers:

Pioneer VSX-1016TXV:
-THX™ Select 2™ Processing and Certification
-Dolby® Digital EX, DTS-ES, DTS 96/24
-XM-HD with Neural Surround

and:

Pioneer VSX-917V-K:
-110 Watts x 7
-HDMI Video Switching
-XM and Sirius Satellite Radio Ready

I know the second is better, but I'm just wondering if is worth the $100+ price difference. Any thoughts?

wii-lite... that first one looks better to me, since it includes 1080p switching, although it's probably 1080p/60 (rather than 1080p/24, should you need this for your TV display). By the way, make sure you always get the latest included specs when making a purchase, of course balanced against how much you want to spend.

Thanks, the first one is like $499 but I found it on Amazon from an Amazon store for $360. I looked at the Onkyo but I'm not in a position to spend $700. Just a bit out of my budget.

I trust reggie's post makes my the point I put forward last week about how irritating it is to get answers to questions you didn't ask. Ghey.

Apparently, we have gotten ourselves a new Message Board moderator without even asking him.

wii-lite,

As you are in the market for a new receiver, you might look at the Onkyo and Denons, too, because for almost the same price as the Pioneer, they do as much or more in decoding all the higher audio codecs. As for the Pioneers, if you go with one of them, be sure to check what audio codecs they decode and also choose the one that has enough HDMI outputs for your other present and future component needs.
