Lots of announced titles and dates, but only 3rd, 4th, and 5th party reports to their cancellations.
The studios have said NOTHING.
Other HDM related websites don't count, as they only back up reports from speculations.
Recent questions as to Warner reneging on their May 31st HD DVD promises included.
No mention of ANY Universal and Paramount/Dreamworks Blu releases either.
A case in point, BEE Movie is still up as being released on HD DVD on Tuesday, March 11th on the Dreamworks Animation website, as well as at www.BEEmovie.com .
Amazon has since confirmed to me that the HD DVD of Bee Movie is definitely slated for release this upcomming Tuesday, as was originally announced by Dreamworks Animation.
We are talking 5 days until shipment at this point.
The 'Sweeney Todd' HD DVD Release on April 1st, and the 'There Will Be Blood' HD DVD release on April 8th were both officially confirmed by the studios, but are only now disputed by 3rd party sources.
No press releases directly from the studios at all.
Why the media blackout period, why no official press releases??
If the official announcements were released, and dates set, and since there have been no official retractions directly from the studios, one is only to continue to expert the releases will occur on their set dates as planned.
Who should believe the rumor mill at this point???
Something fishy here is the Studios aren't talking at all, a real press release of changes would be nice for a change at this point.....

Nothing 'fishy' at all. As I explained to you (and others here) the last few months, when no more releases are forthcoming, then the format is history, as No Content = DEATH
It happened to the LaserDisc format in 1999 (USA) and 2000 (Japan), and now it will happen to HD-DVD by June, unless some smaller outfits produce an occasional release. Then the overseas countries are the only left for possible HD-DVD content, although they will no doubt stop releases in due time as well.
Keep enjoy your present collection of HD-DVDs and DVDs on your player, but START THE PROCESS for adopting into Blu-ray by this summer, when the 2.0 profile players get released, at reasonable prices from Sony and Funai (among others certainly).

Paramount Home Entertainment will end its HD DVD releases with Things We Lost in Fire and Into the Wild on March 4, the studio confirmed Feb. 28.
Planned HD DVDs from the studio that will not be released include The Kite Runner, a re-release of The Jack Ryan Collection, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

From a 2/28 report (Home Media Daily)...
Jimi, there you go again, Home Media Daily is not a studio, and who knows where they get their information from...
As with no studio mention of HD release cancellations, there is no mention of Blu Ray releases either.
If Blu is the winning format, it gets LESS attention than HD DVD, at least the studios have officially announced their HD DVD releases, yet still no retractions....
Like I have said many times before, I already have a Blu ray player, so that's not an issue.
My P$3 is coming home again today from the repair shop for the second time since Christmas according to UPS tracking, so maybe I can actually watch something on Blu this weekend.
I hesitate to buy Blu discs at all because they sit on a shelf collecting dust, my 80Gb P$3 has spent more time out for repair than at home and in use, it's lived most of it's life so far as a $500 brick.
It would be nice to know Universal and Paramount's intentions of when they plan to release something on Blu ray, but the same rumor mills that have announced the cancellation of future HD DVD releases, have also predicted press conferences both last week and this week where the studios were to announce their upcoming Blu release schedules, but none of that information has been correct either.
Sony also makes the claim of doing 150 Blu Ray releases in 2008, but it remains to be seen as to what and where, and unless it's on an actual studio press release, it doesn't mean jack $#!t.
That would mean 2-3 releases per week, but hasn't started to happen.
Chalk up another one to the rumor mill...

Ya know...at least get the information right.
From the Video Business Article...
Sony’s Bishop said the studio will be releasing its largest selection of BD titles yet in 2008. Sony plans to street slightly more than 100 titles during the year, marking a 54% increase from its 2007 output. From launch to date, the studio has released 93 total BD titles.
It says slightly more than 100. Not 150, as you claim.
Sony has 13 releases out through March 4 for the year with another 15 already announced. That's 28, without adding in the glut you know is coming in the fourth quarter (and the ones the Video Business article mentions: The Other Boleyn Girl, Hancock, Don't Mess With Zohan).

VC... you need to quit playing games!
VC, the studios make their announcements regularly to news sources, such as HMDaily, and many others (Video Business, TWICE, etc), including their own websites.
The info I (and Jason) provided above is "on the record" from studio personnel, and why you don't accept their validity is strange for sure! What do you want Universal and Paramount to do - phone you personally? send you a letter? fly a plane overhead with a banner of their EXITING from the HD-DVD business? - LOL
Stop living in denial, and the endless speculations you give while avoiding the reality of industry news sources, etc, etc. Again, as I said, even if you overlook the obvious, you can't overlook the fact that soon you won't be able to order any more HD-DVD new releases, because they will STOP by June here in North America.
Lack of new content = Format's DEATH
(no press release is needed here to understand this)
Sorry about your PS3 woes, hope everything turns out for the best in due time (concerning the repair).

I must have been reading about the number of HD Channels Directv is supposed to have at the same time I was reading about Sony's BD release forecasts.
Even for 100, they better start releasing things quick if they plan to meet any kind of numbers before the end of the year.
Especially if Universal and Paramount get things back in gear and re-release their catalogs on Blu.
They can't do it all at once, there are manufacturing and distribution issues, and people don't have $150 every Tuesday to plunk down when they try 10 releases per week, things have to be released gradually.
Maybe one release every Tuesday per studio, and 18 months to catch up???
