I was at the FYE again today to spend more of my $500 in store credit I have, I needed to pick up a few more titles, and went back to the store i was at on Friday night and suddenly not a single HD-DVD to be found.
I asked an associate what happened to all of them and he showed me a memo from Corporate that stated Toshiba wanted all stock pulled and shipped back. I did ask him if he could grab the Scent of a Woman HD-DVD before they ship them off and he did (Gotta have my Pacino flicks). So effective today all FYE's are no longer carrying the discs themselves...
I did also grab the XA1 they had sitting there. On friday it listed for $299.99, the manager said he would let it go for $200, today I walked out the store with it for $79.99

Now if all the other retailers get that memo, we all can move on.

What would Toshiba have to do with it, the studios control their movie titles???
If there was such a recall initiative being implemented, then ALL stores and Online retailers would be pulling their stock as well.
It must be a FYE management decision, or we would have heard about far more retailers doing the same thing.
I was at the local Wal Mart yesterday, and they have as many HD DVD's on the racks as Blu ray discs(both formats way overpriced), and forget about Blu ray players at Wal Mart, they have no stand alone Blu players for sale and no P$3's in stock.
The clerk said that they have chosen to not stock the P$3 any longer,
(a seasonal decision, not permanently) but instead they tell you to go to WalMart.com and order one there.
No surprise, they are doing the same with the M$ Xbox 360 Elite as well.
No stock, go order it online.
Welcome to the slow season at Wal Mart, the most exciting thing going in their electronics department while I was there was a Fist-Fight that ensued between two customers fighting over the last of a particular HDTV set that they had in stock.
A Wild Night at Wally World, they were literally punching, kicking, and throwing off-shelf items at each other.
All over a stupid TV set...

I was at our local walmart and they had some HD-DVDs but they were all GREEN tagged clearance priced $14-$17.
