Somebody up there^^^ said that HD doesnt improve animation? Really? Hmmmm. "Yep". I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one buddy. I havent seen too many Disney "Classics" on the format yet to comment on the "old animation" statement. (Have you?) But regarding Pixar titles and ALL the other Toons I've seen on BOTH formats....Well, I'll just let the experts say what they say, and agree with them...

bladerunner,
It was Bruce who said "HD doesn't improve animation (especially older animation) as much as regular film/video," and I think I'd have to agree with that, given the qualifier. Live-action movies have more nuances--more subtleties--to reproduce, especially in human faces, and that's where HD helps out. But there is no question HD improves animation, too. Just to a slightly lesser degree.

Yeah Blade, I never said it doesn't improve animation, only not as much (because most animation has less detail). For example the Freedom series is a twin HD DVD/DVD and I was going back and forth and I had to look for the improvement as it was not obvious at all. I'll bet if I put the HD version of part 1 in one night and the SD version of part 2 in the next, most people wouldn't even notice. Freedom just doesn't have a lot of detail, but of course a movie like Cars does and the improvement of that movie is obvious.
Regarding Bee Movie I think that auction was a fraud, many people requested that he posted an actual photo of the title, which he ignored. I think the winning bidder was a friend or something and it was all set up to create attention.

Could very much be...however, somewhere along the line, eBay will want their commission for the transaction...

That's true, so maybe it was set up to get a rough BIN price for possible future leaked copies they might be getting. Who knows.
