And just think, if that kid had put the same amount of time it took him to learn how to play that GAME the way he does, into learning how to play an ACTUAL GUITAR, he might actually be able to play the song for REAL some day!
Pressing buttons really quickly doesn't impress me.

What's impressive is the hand/eye coordination skills it takes to press that many buttons that fast and to get 95 percent correct on a difficult level. I have no doubt that if he applied himself he really could learn to play like that, he already possess the reflex skills. He has nothing but years and pratice in front of him. I do know this how many people kids or adults can actually play the game at that level or actually play a guitar like that for real?

Hey, some 6 year old little girls have learned to play the most difficult instrument, the violin that way in real life! But it never makes big news... boring! Video games are way cooler

My wife and daughter play that game on expert. I myself play REAL guitar and get smoked on hard difficulty on that game!!! The only thing that I see that this game could even help with in as far as playing REAL guitar is maybe dexterity or something. It is NOTHING like playing guitar for real though.

I have to agree with Blu, my cousing playing the guitar and when we played GHIII on new year's eve I very much beat him every time because he said that playing GHIII and playing an actual guitar are quite different.

I mean guys, this game has 5 buttons and a strum bar, while a guitar has 22-24 frets and 6 strings to work with, no to mention, all the techniques used in real playing, from simple hammer on's and pull off's to advanced picking techniques, hell to even learning how to tune your instrument!!!
I will say that the drums in the game Rockband are pretty darned faithful at expert level, in so far as the technique used to play, now THAT game (the drums at least) can help someone learn how to play drums, as I also play drums as well, actually better than I play guitar, IMO.
Anyways, I hope the kids of today get into playing music. I hate to see what the music scene is like in 20 years from now with all that crap that is called music today. I myself grew up on Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Hendrix, etc. Nothing out there today rivals those guys, IMO

This is another one of the threads that belongs in the ABOUTH EVERYTHING catergory. Not the HD DVD/Blu-Ray area. Let's not turn this into a messy message board with shit just scattered everywhere.

Holy cow, I'm AMAZED this kid can time this so well! I was watching his TV screen and it was as if he was being shot at by an oozie there were so many "buttons" flying at him to press and so freakin fast too.
Expert level is insane!
