Why does Amazon take so long to ship HD DVD's?

I ordered 5 LAST weekend, and they shipped yesterday, and the estimated arrival is the 19th!?! Anyone know what gives???

I have always had fast shipping w/Amazon, my home theater stuff came in 3 days, so did my headphones, and almost everything else I have ordered from them.

I got the dvd's for $12 each so i guess it's not SO bad.

Because it is free. I noticed that Amazon gives shipping priority to those who pay vs. those who choose free shipping. I ordered the first couple times free shipping and after waiting almost 3 weeks to get my HD-DVD I opt now to pay for shipping. I get my HD-DVD's in 2 to 3 days max 4 if weekend/holiday gets in the middle.

That is weird, i only say that because i used the prime option, I got one free month of prime, and just figured they did not have them in stock or something like that. I was just trying to see if it was like this for everyone...Like I said My onkyo 705 came in 3 days as did my polk speakers, headphones, etc, and those were FREE shipping before i got the prime offer...oh well, I can't complain so much as i got great prices.

Blu, this is funny I to tried the AMAZON prime free month thing when I got my 605, but I forgot to cancel it before the free trial was over and my credit card got charged $80 bucks for a year of the service. I was mad at myself but then I realized that hey two day shipping is free and for an extra $4 bucks more I can get things delivered next day, I said to myself this is the best mistake that I've made in years.

Hey Tony,

Yeah bro, I think I am going to keep the Prime as I order a lot of stuff from Amazon. I also think you can share it with people so i will see if a couple of friends want to chip in for it. i think i read you can share it with up to 3 people or something?

You're right but the wife, sister, and in-laws have claims on my memberships.

I order a lot of stuff from Amazon.com. I always take the FREE shipping. Usually the items arrive within 1 week. It may be where you are in relation to their shipping centers. I know if I order something or sell something to California, it usually takes 2-3 days longer than if I order something from the east coast.

Lately I've been buying HD DVD's on sale and every once in a while I get an email from amazon saying they could not ship the items at the expected delivery date and blah blah blah. I assumed it was because a lot of people were buying these movies on sale so they were waiting to get more of them or something.

My latest two HD DVD purchases have been from Amazon.com.

With the dollar being weak against the pound its easily worthwhile as long as I keep the total value inc p+p below £18 That way their is no import charges.

Just ordered Beowulf not released here until mid April and less than what it'll be here.

The other is Scent of a woman. Including p+p less than a current SD DVD. Not available on HD over here

It took less than 2 weeks for the HD DVDs I ordered to arrive, with the free shipping. Plus, I live in the southmost part of TX, so I don't think it was that bad...
