Well, apperantly no Blu-Ray player is coming to the Xbox 360.
Here is the whole article: http://www.efluxmedia.com/news_Microsoft_Downplays_The_Rumors_About_BluRay_Drive_For_Xbox_360_15106.html
My personal opinion on the matter would have been that Microsoft would have dealt Sony a serious kick in the nuts had they began manufacturing a BD Drive for the Xbox 360. That would have yanked the blanket out from under the PS3's seemingly only reason for being on the market at this point.

However this doesn't mean that they aren't going to or haven't already had talks with the BDA.

I very much doubt that they will put a blu-ray player to their next console just for the movies. I have understood that MS is looking after movie downloads in the future. Sony has Sony Pictures, so it makes much more sense for them to have BD player, and even subvent it. MS wants to sell game disks, not movie disks.
However, MS will definitely use some removable storage device, which is compatible with DVD (as the DVD will be the main movie distribution format for at least couple of years to come). It needs to be cost effective and provide enough space for future games. It can be blu-ray, or it can as well be HD-DVD - or something else, I think that the unit cost is the main factor there. I'd assume that blu-ray is too expensive for MS currently, but that could of course change in the future.
These are just my thoughts, sometimes the business logic is more complicated, and may include factors that we are not aware of.

I think all these rumors are from Sony fanboys. They are like "Lolz watch M$ beg Sony for blu-ray." Why in the hell would Microsoft be in talks with Sony? They can get an agreement with any company in the BDA. I would talk with Samsung or HP. Some of these Sony fanboys actually think that Blu-ray is a Sony format.

This is sad news indeed for XBox owners hoping to get into Blu-ray on the cheap.

Naw, it just means XBox owners will have to now go out and buy a PS3 which happens to be a Sony product (Blu-ray isn't). Then the XBox owners will succumb to buying PS3 games as well, effectively becoming duel format... and BOOB, XBox then dies a slow lingering death with the increased PS3 gaming base ... all because Microsoft didn't go for the Blu-ray addon!
