Both Future Shop and Best Buy Canada are blowing out their LG BH200 and Samsung BD-P5000 are both on sale for $499.99 CDN.

But if you are "creative" you can pick one up for $399.99 CDN...

A heck of a cheap way to future proof yourself and pick up a pretty darn good Blu-ray/HD DVD player for the cost of a decent Blu-ray player

Can you expand on being "creative"?

I'd like to know as I'm interested in the Samsung combo player.

Well, being that both BB and FS offer price matching, tell them you saw it for $399 at an independant shop. Make sure it is a real store in their selling area. Tell them you know that the cost is $375 and they are more than happy to help you out.

I paid $399, but I also bought the four year extended warranty, of which they offered at half the normal price.

But be alert...I bought the last one BB had in Westend Toronto.

Check the national website for both to find out where they may have stock.

I wonder why they are DUMPING the combos??? Maybe there isn't that big of a market for them as people seem to think.

Or they could be trying to get rid of anything that says HD DVD on it. Besides aren't combo players more expensive than standalone players? Could also be why they are trying to get rid of them.

BB north of Boston had both of these hooked up and running for $399 last week. Don't both of these have playback issues? Perhaps they are just trying to get rid of them so that they can begin selling the more expensive stand alone players?

I just checked futureshop.ca for the Samsung and it's out of stock. Would have been nice to get.

Steve, I know the Sammy has some issues and they have fixed a couple with firmware updates so hopefully they will fix the rest. If they can get it to work as advertised it would be a great player to have.
