Even though HD-DVD lost and a lot of us HD-DVD supporters don't have any plans of buying a Blu-ray player, I do admit that there would be some movies that (if they make it to Blu-ray) I would buy in a heart beat even if I don't have a Blu-ray player because after all, I'm a movie buff. See here are some of the movies I'd buy in Blu-ray just because I love them:
Star Wars Saga
Indiana Jones Saga
Star Trek Movies (All XI)
The Lord of The Rings Trilogy
All 22 James Bond Movies
Tron
Titanic
Ben-Hur (1959)
Jurassic Park Trilogy
E.T (idk if already out on BD or not)
Schindler's List
The last 2 Harry Potter Films
Dark Kight
That's all I can think of so far.
How about the rest of you? (come on hard core HD-DVD supporters, you gotta admit you have the sinfull pleasure of buying your favorite films in BD that never made it to HD-DVD
).

Dark Knight
Toy Story 1+2
The Incredibles
basically all the Pixar Movies
Star Wars Saga
The James Bond Movies I like (Goldeneye)
Lord of the Rings Extended Editions
I'd really love for older catalog titles get the Bladerunner treatment but that seems unlikely for a little while. I think we're going to see mostly newer movies with a few old catalog titles, that sell well for now.

All the Pixar movies for sure.
Star Wars saga
Some Star Trek, maybe all, not sure
Lord of the Rings trilogy...MAYBE
Dark Knight
Last 2 Harry Potter films also
Cloverfield
Star Wars animated movie comin to theatres this August I believe
Some concerts
I'm sure I've missed a lot but these are off the top of my head. There are a lot of movies that I don't need to have in hidef as I'm quite happy with the DVD version.

A 1925 silent version by MGM which was the first long reel version. It had one of the biggest budgets of its time. There was also a short 15 minute long film in 1907.

Make that the last 3 Harry Potter Films, they are splitting the last book into 2 separate movies, to be released 6 months apart.
Just something to make you buy another disc....

Sorry, really not on planning to buy any Blu-ray titles...rent, sure, but not buy...
Although I have a combo player now, my allegiance is still to HD DVD product...I will buy HD DVD product, but not Blu-ray product...

I'm glad to hear that. Trust me, I'm still buying as many HD-DVD's as I get my hands on. I probably exagerated a bit with all those movies but for 100% sure I'd still buy Star Wars, Star Trek, Tron, and LOTR.

Check out this order I have comin in a couple of weeks...
The Ant Bully, The Departed, Ocean's Trilogy, Planet Earth - The Complete BBC Series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Appleseed Ex Machina, Happy Feet, Justice League - The New Frontier, Old School, I Am Legend, 2001 - A Space Odyssey, Beowulf (Director's Cut), Troy (Director's Cut), and Lucky Number Slevin. All HD DVD's of course for a grand total of $321.59 (including shipping).
I know it's a little overboard but the prices can't be beat right now for these hidef movies and by bundling them all into one order I saved on shipping too.

Did you notice that most of us want the Pixar movies???
Again, it's a matter of double dippin. If you have the movies on HD DVD it is highly unlikely you'll rebuy them on blu. But the ones that aren't out yet, all the mentioned above. The 007 series there is no doubt will be released shortly on blu...and I'm positive that with the release of Wall-e, Disney will release a couple more Pixar films on blu (let's hope...at least Wall-e on HD).
But come on, give me a break, Star Wars isn't the only franchise that likes to double dip! Or tell me which studios don't....

Of course SW isn't the only one. You guys keep mentioning another clear example of the "double-dip" trend, Disney: "get (movie title) for the first time on video..." (back in the VHS era), then: "get it for the first time on DVD", then: get it for the first time on 2-disk DVD special edition..." and now is going to be: "get it for the first time on Blu-ray..."
Is just sick!
Is just sick!

r-u-serious,
just a question.... what allegiance is their towards a format that is already dead. I guess some people believe you are being brave and sincere, but in actuality, you are clinging to something that deserves to sympathy. ( a format?!?) It's not like a country, or a friend, or an ex-wife, or a compatriot, or anything like that. i feel like you are insulting the people who really are loyal.
i thnk the only vhs version of anything i own is the star wars christmas show.
but seriously guys get rid of your vhs please. It is time to say goodbye.

TheProf,
I haven't used my VHS player in years but a relative gave me some Thomas and Friends VHS tapes for my 1 yr old to watch in the bedroom. I took them not knowing if the VHS player even worked still. I tried it out and it works great. Now I have some other VHS tapes he watches on a 13" TV so it turned out to be cheap entertainment for my son
As you know VHS tapes go for super cheap now so I'm lovin the value I'm getting from it. To be honest they don't look bad at all either but like I said it's hooked up to a 13" TV.

Haha true. It also makes me appreciate optical disks more as I forgot how annoying it is to rewind VHS tapes and you can't forward instantly to the next chapter. My son doesn't care though. He's just happy watching his videos

Prof...this is why I have a combo player...HD DVD and Blu-ray...so I can enjoy the movies I already have on HD DVD and rent future titles on Blu-ray.
There are some titles only available on HD DVD that have never been released on either HD DVD or Blu-ray in North America, specifically titles from Europe...you know, that continent across the ocean
There may come a day when I might purchase Blu-ray product, but not until the pricing schema becomes a little more affordable.
And for the record, I still maintain two S-VHS machines for retrieving old archived stand up comedy and vintage sci-fi...the stuff they will never, ever release on SD-DVD.

Sure, but only qualified engineers can set the time on them, which is normally why they flash 12:00. Time to upgrade to a better clock for your rack. I prefer the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR, because it mysteriously sets the time accurately all by itself!

Anyways I would get
Spiderman trilogy
Resident Evil trilogy
Rambo anthology
Crank
The Transporter
The Transporter 2
The Die Hard collection
Hollowman
Phone booth
Mr.Brooks
and many more

Well, I trully believe that our kids are waht we make of them, if we spoil them and do not give them proper boundaries according to their age and situations they'll grow up to be brats if we give them reasonable boundaries and teach them respect and treat them with respect they'll grow up respecting others and themselves.

I still have/use my JVC SuperVHS/VHS player... timer-recording news/documentary programs (to watch later) the old fashioned way!
Been wondering if anyone knows of a forthcoming VHS player with built-in ATSC digital tuner? Otherwise, my unit's NTSC tuner won't be functional after the 2/17/2009 transition to DTV signals. So, I'll probably be forced into a TiVo-type device.
