I just saw this on a web site Skyhawk and the quote he posted is the entire article and I picked up on the same quote that you just pointed out.
Yeah, that quote really stood out. I personally think the entire Toshiba CEO quotes of late, including the recycled news of last year about the WG-12 DVD Forum formation is just "saving face" talk for the company. Once things die down a bit, I expect Toshiba and even the DVD forum to start cooperating with the BDA.

posters5, I stand corrected. Thanks.
But I will add that with the entire feature at 480i, the PiP can be encoded at less than 100 lines, which although probably subtracts from the limited bandwidth available, doesn't really impact it that much.

Honestly, you expect Toshiba to just give up its billion dollar a year DVD royalty, roll over, and play dead?
DVD2 and Super Upconversion are Toshiba's way of containing Blu-Ray by not giving 95% of consumers a reason to switch.

For what purpose, other than ensuring DVD2 playback in Blu-Ray players?

There's nothing wrong with being 60, look at John and I:

And Skyhawk is not a Trol, he is just a very well informed dedicated enthuasist. Nothing wrong there. I do think he sleeps with his PS3 from time to time though...
