Corny but cute. My wife and two kids loved it. Definitely a great date flick for sure. A little soft on the PQ in certain scenes especially those with Adams (obviously trying to hide her freckles). But other than that a flawless picture. Speaking of which, Amy Adams is currently working on "Night at the Museum 2". Oh dear.

I have been informed by multiple people I trust Enchanted is a cute little movie. Barring any end-of-the-week disasters, I'll be grabbing it on Saturday for a (hopefully) Saturday night light movie night. After all the heavy dramas and downbeat indies I subject the BF to, he deserves something light and fluffy.

Skyhawk... about Night at the Museum.... cool movie, awesome quality on Blu-ray, and I liked the added Trivia text-track that you can read while watching the movie. Got it last year in an Amazon BOGO sale for $14 net - nice!

I watched "Enchanted" lastnight. I agree it was a bit corny . . . well, a lot corny but it was warm and very humorus. Aside from some of the singing, it is an enjoyable film and good to see Disney mock their own empire. As said already, it makes a great date/family movie.

I give it:
7/10

Or if you live where I do it would rate three "Damn Dirty Apes!"

Hey, guys, how can you not like a film that both Jim and I rated in separate reviews an 8/10. Funniest movie of 2007, bar none.

It's possible I snagged my copy on the same BOGO sale. Although the kids like it better than I do, I found it entertaining the first couple times around. After suffering through parts of it for the 10th time in the last 4 months or so due to the kids, it gets a bit dry!

Unfortunately, Enchanted might suffer the same fate unless I buy the standard DVD so the kids can watch it over and over in their room. Looks like my next Blu-ray player purchase will be for them.

But somehow the prospect of "A Night at the Museum 2" scares me a little, since I can't really figure out where they might take it after the first. And I wonder if even many closeups will be shot a bit soft to try and hide Amy's freckles again.

Which is rather interesting, because Disney put TrueHD on the Blu-ray version. One would have thought they would have chosen DTS HD MA instead, but I was glad to see TrueHD since the PS3 can at least fully decode it. Perhaps TrueHD is going to be a new trend for Disney?

I'm guessing if Ironbull watched this with his lady, we wont hear from him until tomorrow.

That alone should put this movie on every guy's A-list!

But I did like it.

I may have not found it an 8 as you and Jim, but it is an entertaining enough film with good repeat value. I, too, would say it's one of the funniest movies of 2007, but as far as comedies go, nothing has beat "Super Troopers" in the past couple years.

My wife and I could not stop laughing and the kids kept looking at us wondering what was so funny. it was a nice break from all the Barbie princess and Disney princess movies the kids watch day in and day out!

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. I remember John praising that movie as one of the best comedies of all time.

Yeah, but that was only because the whole time I was watching it, I thought it was a Freddy Krueger movie.

Xylon on the AVSForum has posted a thread of screen comparison shots of Enchanted - standard (upconverted) DVD then Blu-ray grab for each shot:

Sky,

For the past couple of years, I've been lucky enough to have had a regular DVD player and an HD DVD player hooked up in the same system (now an HD DVD player and a BD player), and to have had access to both SD and HD discs of the same movie. So it's been pretty easy for me to make direct, instant comparisons of the same screens one after the other. Anybody who can't see the differences between even upscaled SD discs and HD discs has to be sitting pretty far away from their screen.

I found the comparison interesting, since this is one of those new direct-to-digital transfers. I was pretty surprised at the difference in even the opening cartoon part. I didn't really expect much of an improvement over the standard def in the 2-D animation, but those HD shots look pixel perfect.
