xplaytendo, than you should just buy the Blu-ray, but I do agree with you. I would love to record a HD cable movie on my PC and stream it to my PS3.

Seriously though, if the PS3 can do all these things I feel bad for Pioneer, Sharp, Samsung, etc trying to sell standalones for the same price. Most of their machines are not upgradeable to profile 2.0 never mind all the other features available on the PS3.

Bingo, Falc. Sony's partners are getting screwed on keeping the retail price MUCH MUCH HIGHER than the 40gb PS3... with VERY LIMITED FEATURES, weak processor, & ZERO STORAGE DRIVE. Not to mention FASTER FIRMWARE UPDATES...

I'm sorry Skyhawk but.. Number 4? Christ... First you guys get free online gaming... now you expect free games too?! Crazy canuck.

Even us Xbox Live Gold Members RARELY get a free game thrown at us... only if the Servers are down for a substantial amount of time... or if there's some crazy special event going on. And don't even MENTION free map packs! The Dev's keep nodding their heads yes to it... but Microsoft keeps saying no. I mean... Seriously... the 800/400 points is supposed to be for bandwidth and such right? Well... Why can't that come out of my Fifty bucks a year? Or 20 bucks every 3 months? (I hate not having 50 bucks.)

I already have a blu-ray. I've had my PS3 since Thanksgiving! Sonystyle.com offered a $100 credit to any new credit card members, with a purchase of $299 & up. I bought the 80gb Motorstorm bundle. No other blu-ray player can match the PS3, based on price/features.

Sad to say, I sold Motorstorm. I don't play console games.

As for that offer, I believe it's still ACTIVE at sonystyle.com.

Hey Skyhawk, I agree with #1, certainly #2, I can live with #3, I have a MAME emulator for #4, I also agree with #5, and #6 will be here before you know it.

But don't you have to turn your PS3 into a Linux box for that to work? Or do they have MAME that's compatible with the PS3's native OS?

BTW, getting #2 (that includes a fully operational Flash plugin) would probably satisfy my wife's cravings for #4.

Yes you do, but I have an ATI All In Wonder card and it's connected to my HDTV so one click on the Onkyo remote and my computer is displayed so adding Linux to my PS3 is not neccessary.

I believe Yellow Dog Linux is applicable to the PS3...

Another 'feature' I wish they would finally release: HOME

So let me get this straight his name is xplaytendo and he DOESN'T play console games??

And who the heck is using the PS3 for music visualizations? That's like using a blender as a lava lamp )

This isn't what a blender is for?

My wife keeps on telling me this also... Hmm... perhaps there is truth in this after all?

Edit: To be serious again, I do think that providing visualizations is better than a blank screen when streaming audio content through the PS3.
