I bought a PS3 knowing full well it was BD-Live or 2.0 complaint

Eurgh! Stop copying everyone's homework Sony! F-!

Congrats to Blu-Ray for getting even closer to being able to do everything HD DVD can!

just to let everyone know the interactivity on ps3 is a lot more capable than HDDVD's HDi was. This language is a fully upgradeable and workable piece of programming, and has virtually no limits. So, this kind of feature must have been in the works for a long time.

The "Resume play" feature is definitely cool. Finally HD media players catch up to standard DVD players!

I know.. that's really interesting, how the hell did they come up with that? Must be some kind of software write in from the movie. So i guess the movie writes to disc. Hmmm it sounds like a way to sneak in a hack, but i wonder if it is player induced?

The resume play IS a nice feature. Finally!

Will standalone bluray players be able to do this with firmware updates? Hopefully.

here are 4 urls proving you wrong surprise!!!
Also, mike, since you obviously can't read. This is resume play after REMOVING the disc from the machine, not resuming after hitting the stop button. Plus you don't need to hit "bookmark" or anything like you had to on the HDDVD sets you refer to.

SURPRISE!
EDIT: it could be a simliar bookmark feature, but we don't know that yet. But, still, thanks for shilling your tripe sir, that thousands on the internet claim is "non-existent".

I don't think so, since some Blu-ray movies already have a "re-play" feature, as when you press the stop button, then play again, the movie starts where it left off. I suspect this is done by BD-J included with those movies, since the xlet interface includes a "destroy" event that allows you to execute code when the xlet is removed from the screen (by pressing stop for example). In this case, the xlet probably simply saves the running time in RAM in a static object that's available when a new xlet is created. At least that's the way I'd do it. Of course this doesn't work if you turn the machine off - the xlet would have to write to either the hard drive or internal persistent flash memory for that to work, which they could have done. Except all studios would have to coordinate the format of the saved data, and know what to do if persistent data was already used up.

I think this new feature isn't done by the movies, since it's a firmware upgrade and likely has nothing to do with BD-J itself. In other words it's a lower level function built into the operating system. This is all just a guess on my part of course...

Who said I was ever talking about HD-DVD? Douche bag.

However I can still use resume play on DVD's even when using the HD-add on. Hell I can even take the disc out, put it back in and it'll pop up right where I was at!
