There is tons of software available for editing SDVDs and other movie formats (avi, mp4, whatever), but I was wondering if there were any programs out there for either HD movie format?

I show movies in my backyard in the warmer months on my projector, and what I like to do is I put a couple cartoons before the movie, the 1st of the movie, a 5-10 min intermission, the second half of the movie and sometimes something after the movie all on on disc. So that way it's more like a true theater experience, since I'm not switching discs and we don't see the DVD menus. I'm looking to upgrade my backyard theater to HD this year and I was hoping I could do the same the same thing with my HD movies (as soon as I start buying them).

Sony's Vegas Video & Adobe Premiere, including Avid HDV will do HD editing. Caution: IT TAKES A LOT OF CPU POWER & RAM (including MASSIVE STORAGE requirements) to edit in RAW HD format.

Moreover, these softwares adopting this new medium, STILL HAVE BUGS. Expect computer crashes... even from the most speedy multicore rigs.

Damn. I was afraid of that. Oh well, I guess I'll just temporarily "upgrade" to an upconverter until I can fully upconvert to HD.
