Looks as though more than just Blu is in trouble here, apparently a lot of modern laser/LED manufacturers might be!

Of course, neither Sony (nor Toshiba also called into this but not mentioned in the article for some reason) manufacture short wave length laser diodes. On another note, my own patent that says "any light source used in any technology is MINE" may be infringed as well. More investigation will follow....

I sence a major lawsuit or a major settlement happening sooner than later. Once again you will see SONY walk away from another blunder untouched. Like I've said before, Sony as a company has never properly conducted business by the books.

And I "sence" some trolling.

You would be better at it if you actually put some imagination into the effort!

Speaking of trolls, they never have been known for their spelling.

Skyhawk,

What the hell are you talking about. You pompous turd. I made a comment regarding Sony's business antics. It would not surprise me in the least if they legitimately knew that theys stole technology? It is not the first time a major company has done this. Plain and simple, I DO NOT TRUST SONY. Never have, never will. That is a decision, and a choice that I have made. Not a troll statement. I didn't even post the topic you nerd...

Big deal I spelled "sense" wrong! Whoopee, I hope that made you happy... OMG, you are a nerd!

I have a question for you Skyhawk?

Let me guess you own a Rogers (Motorola) HD/PVR at home too...

And "reguarding"....... You misspelled words twice in one thread, now that's just unacceptable.

Skyhawk is probably just tired of all the Sony hate. Sony has alot of haters for a reason though.

No, I own a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HD PVR, extended with an eSATA 500GB external drive. Why?

And yes, you are trolling. At least 30 companies were named in this laser diode thing, including Toshiba. You just have to come up with something better. As I said, please try and exercise more imagination! At least it would be entertaining.

You call that trolling. That is pathetic. My feeling towards Sony, you call trolling... That is sad. If in fact 30 names on that list broke those rules, they deserved to be punished. I find it funny that Sony happened to be the company that got defaced. I do honestly believe that Sony isn't the HERO Company that you make them out to be.

Since is a diode laser issue, I'm sure Toshiba is part of it but I can't resist to ask you your (and all of you "doubters" [sp.]) favorite question, "where is the link" of the 30+/- companies in this lawsauit? I can't seem to find it.

From the article:

"...The complainant requests that the ITC issue exclusion orders and cease and desist orders...."

First of all, thanks for the link spoon. So what does it mean to "exclude orders"?

Hmmm... even if America loses all its Blu-ray players and cell phones over this patent infringement claim, it's not a biggy. But NYC and LA are going to be in a world of hurt without traffic lights.

"Alright you two, STOP FIGHTING! Reggie, the war is over -- move on! Skyhawk, stop picking a fight with every poster that has a different opinon or rant than yours! Now, shake hands, give a hug, get along and move on!"

Sony was likely in the headline because Blu-ray is the main HD format now and it's one of the big electronics stories right now with all the speculation as to how it will actually perform in the market. Reaggie, you're entitled to your opinion about Sony, of course, but it seems like you're picking and choosing a little too narrowly to just slag on Sony, even though Toshiba, Pioneer, Sharp, Hitachi, LG, etc. are all named. Like you alluded to, these suits do happen a lot. As I'm guessing you're largely comparing Sony to Toshiba as far as business ethics (I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong), but do a search on Toshiba lawsuits and their are many settlements and lost lawsuits on Toshiba's side, too.

Every corporate empire has had lawsuits, some more than others. Why do you think big business has a whole boardroom full of Attorney's? I can assure you, they're not there to sell Girl Scout Cookies.
