I started to get the 705 but settled on the 605. I've also install an exhaust fan on the receiver to eliminate any heat issues. It already has plenty of ventilation but can't be to sure these days.

I haven't checked to see if my 705 has a built-in fan, but if it does, it has never gone on. I had heard that the unit could generate a good deal of heat and that getting it in silver would help dissipate the heat better. However, even after many hours at a time of use, it never feels more than a little warm to the touch in certain spots. It does have plenty of space around it, though. It's on a bottom shelf with a foot or two of space to the sides and back (open) and a couple of inches of space above to the next shelf.

Great receiver, by the way.

I have a Onkyo 6.1 surround and I love it soo much. The optical audio was my favorite upgrade from the old surround I had. Your THX version sounds pervocative. How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking?

The subwoofer that came with my system was weak but I have a JBL SUB12 (500 watt) coming today in the mail. I cannot wait to test that out. AT the store it costs $350 but on amazon last week it was selling for $170.
