Perhaps I'm one of the few that didn't find THE DESCENT very credible - a great story idea, but didn't the women not know hardly anything about this particular cave(?), yet they wholeheartedly decided on a very complex exploration of it in their first attempt (unless I'm mistaken), and made some careless mistakes along the way.
Contrast that film with...
The 'terror' and real equivalent of what the two mountain climbers experienced with their overwhelmingly fears seen in the film TOUCHING THE VOID - yes, it's a survivor film, but chillingly horrifying none the less.
As Dean said in his Descent review - "once the trapped sequence happens after the first forty-minutes, things start to become mundane and typical." Even the 'crawlers' attacks become boring. However, I never grow tired of watching and experiencing the true horror as seen in Void, as the two climbers attempt to become survivors and not die to the elements of the mountain, weather, etc, and handicapped as one climber is (no more spoilers - just see it).

Wolf Creek did'nt do anything for me. The Orignal Texas Chainsaw is a great classic film and no slasher has come even close to it

I actually thought about getting the Wolf Creek HD DVD but wasn't sure if it was any good. I think I'm gonna get a zip.ca account.

Wow I am getting some great ideas for my Block Buster online rental list.
Now is there anything better then watching a horror film on your home theater on a rainy day?

Xavier, I honestly don't think it gets any better than that. Horror movie + surround sound on a dark rainy night = good times.
You may need a beer though and maybe seatbelts so you don't jump out of your chair

Skyhawk, what a hell of a chill ride Descent was, they are working on De2cent the second part to the orignal. It will take off were the original left off. After the woman survivor reaches a hospital she tells the authorities what happens and a resue team is dispatched to search for survivors, she also accompanies the rescue team to the cave.
They shouldn't make a Decent 2. As I don't want to give away any spoilers for those who haven't seen it, all I can say is that the first effort was good enough and a sequel would probably ruin it IMO.

I agree.
They should NOT make a Decent 2.
The first one while at times flawed was good enough.
I mean I get it that Hollywood sees money to be had so the will make one.
But sometimes the best story is the one that leaves the ending to your imagination.
I really don't want to know what came next.
As far as I am concerned the survivors fate was one worse then hell.
I don't need any lame team of rescuers to try save anyone only to get more of what we already saw.

Exactly, and that made the whole point of the movie in the end. Why now twist it into some Hollywood ending just so that they can turn it into a franchi$e?
