Well, we get this 'question' here on the Msg Bd from time to time, and I have many duplicates from among various formats (LaserDisc, DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-ray), and -the- film I've made more duplicate purchases than any other is...
Francis Ford Copplola's APOCALYPSE NOW
~ I have the 3 LaserDisc editions - Full-Frame 2.0 Dolby Surround, Widescreen 2.0 Dolby S., Widescreen 5.1 Dolby Digital
~ I have the 3 DVD editions (all widescreen 16x9 anamorphic) - 5.1 DD Theatrical cut (w/rare bonus "destruction of Kurtz' compound"
, 5.1 DD 'Redux' Longer cut, and the 5.1 DD 'Complete Dossier' SpEd set (remastered film ratio and many extras).
And I own the LaserDisc documentary of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (outstanding!), which has just recently been released on DVD (finally).
And when the Blu-ray Hi-Def version arrives I will purchase it as well, of course! Note: Apocalypse Now features incredible (and difficult) cinematography, as well as outstanding sound quality - earning the men responsible with the Academy Award!

I have several movies in different formats but my most significant movie in different formats is Star Wars:
4 VHS versions
1 VideoCD version
2 DVD versions
and if they ever come out in Blu-ray, I won't hessitate in buying Star Wars in Blu also.
