Hey Gents... wanted to share something with you guys.
I have my onkyo 705 hooked to the sharp Aquos, and the run everything to each device via hdmi. ps3, Xbox 360 Elite and Tosh A3. Onkyo 7.1 Surr speakers. the 750 something model.
Was watching Live free or die hard. and in one scene where the main geek gows downstairs to the server room, after he uses his algorithm hack thing.... Onkyo receiver shut off. I lost picture and sound ofcorse. At first I though ohh, maybe the overheating thing I've heard. But my receiver sits on a glass shelf with a foot on each side, and doesent even feel hot. plus it has been on a whole day before, either with a combination of the pc. ps3, 360 or A3.
I turn it back on, and it keeps running the movie just fine. After it ended I was like ok?? So i go back to that same scene.... and right where he goes algorithm /then server room, shuts off again same spot A bad disc making my setup shut down... or? this is really the first issue Ive had with a blu disc. since i have a ps3 i dont see many. But I really dont know what this could be. It as never ever happened before. I have about 50 blu discs.

One of two possiblities presents themselves to me.
1.) Justin Long's character hacked your reciever from within the movie
or
2.) You were sitting on the remote and your ass hacked the remote by hitting the power button at that exact moment EACH time that scene came up.

Kuco, I think it has something to do with the HDMI switcher inside of the ONKYO. My 605 did the samething with a movie I was watching on cable. I rewind to movie 2x and everytime at that spot the 605 popped and a red protection light flashes. On the second time I had my computer playing that same movie, playing it both on my HDTV and my computer monitor. The HDTV is connected to the 605. The 605/HDTV hook up shut off while the computer continued to play. I don't know why this happened either but I am researching to see what the problem is. I'll let you know what I turned up.

It could be that there is something on the disk that is tripping the speaker protection circuit and shutting the receiver down. I once had a similar problem with my Denon receiver and a DTS DVD audio disk. It turned out to be a loose connection to the subwoffer. Check your wires.

If it is only this one disc in this one spot that shuts off the receiver, I think it's safe to say that it has something to do with the disc. The first thing I'd do is exchange the disc.
I have an Onkyo 705, and I've played "Live Free or Die Hard" through to the end several times now without even a minor hitch. So it's not like every disc of the movie is defective. Exchange it and check back with us.
Also, check at the AVS Forums. Type in the name of the movie and the word "Blu-ray," and you should come up with a whole thread dedicated to the film. See if other people are having the same problem. (I did this with "Hot Fuzz" on HD DVD and found that any number of people were having the same problem I experienced in the same spot. They recommended exchanging the disc, which I did.)
