Hey,
was looking at buying 'The Mist', the trailer looked promising, the story sounded pretty good. But i have read very mixed reviews on it, some giving it 8/9 out of 10, other 1 outta 10.
So has anyone seen it and can anyone tell me if it is worth buying.
I couldn't see a review on the site, so that's why im asking.
Cheers
Luigi

There's no review of it here on DVDTOWN as of yet, and I don't know why. In the meantime you can always read reviews for it at Rotten Tomatoes: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/mist/

Senor Raynor,
DVDTown Review here. It's not the DVD review, but I did risk life and limb last year to see it early.
Jason, will not shoot you no matter how much you beg

Sorry Jason, I forget you do reviews of theatrical releases. I actually read a lot of your reviews but I wish Henning would just make a tab for theatre releases and then we could all remember the site does promote new theatre release reviews. I was hoping to do theatrical releases myself, but then you came in and hogged all the thunder. lol
I just watched "The Mist" tonight and was very pleased. I have to say it's one of the best films of 2007 and a great addition to the horror genre. I read the short story years ago and the movie turned out very close to how I would have pictured it. It was certainly very well directed and a great film on character study of human survival. The film does take its own liberties in adding to the story, but it keeps well with the persona of the writen book.
My daughter saw it a few weeks ago in a dollar theatre and she hated the ending. However, I found the ending powerful and dramatic, yet emotional in the human sence of tragic. A very well rounded film in the sence of emotion and terror and so much better than your average teenage slasher flick. It's certainly not a film to be taken lightly just for the gore sence, as if offers so much more for the debate of human survival. I can only wish more films in the horror genre would take this approach because so many of them are just for the thrill of CGI and nothing more.
It was a good film on many aspects and I highly recommend it as it is a much better film than many movies in the line of horror. I'd say if you're taking the chance on a blind purchase, this is one film that will not disappoint. And instead of being a thrill ride, it was a ride of drama and emotions not always seen in movies of its kind. It's a really good film for debate of human instinct and survival, and it has more to offer under the surface if you're willing to look.

It would have worked if it knew it was a comedy sadly it appears the filmmakers actually meant it seriously. Then again I was the only person who laughed out loud at the end of the movie but then again again I was also pretty much the only person in the theater.

If you click on Movie Reviews up top and then on Theatrical Releases, you'll find the reviews. Is that the kind of tab you were looking for?
(Hey, this new release gig goes all the way back to "United 93" nearly 2 years ago now. There was always room for both of us, Tim. All we had to do was compare notes as to who was doing what!)

Hey now, I only tease. You're doing a wonderful job at it, and besides, my work schedule is too extensive for me to get back into reviews since they made me a big-shot here. By all means, enjoy the thunder my friend, you deserve it!
In AZ we have AMC as well, but our local Harkins Theatres are da' bomb! Stadium seating, of course, but the seats also rock . . . literally! Plus they have tripple the selection of junk food compared to bland ol' AMC. The newest Harkins built in San Tan Village actually blocks peoples cell-phone signals so you don't get annoyed with some a-hole's phone ringing ( I still can't believe the amount of people that will not at least set their phone to vibrate! ). And screaming children! Harkins actually has a romping playroom you can drop the youngsters in so they don't annoy us big kids! HA, let's see corporate, mainstream AMC beat that!
