The HD DVD player prices on Amazon are skyrocketing! A week ago the HD-A35 was $399, now it's up to $699! The HD-A2 is $400 for gods sake! I thought when a format died, the prices were supposed to come DOWN? Man, I bet a laserdisc player goes for just under $1,000,000!!!

Toshiba HD-A35 $699.99

Toshiba HD-A30 $355.00

Toshiba HD-A3 $149.99

Toshiba HD-A2 $399.99

Toshiba HD-A20 $100.00

I just ordered a Toshiba HD A35 from Htmarket.com. It was $269.00 with free shipping. They also gave me an additional $20 off for March Madness. The total price $249.00.. I don't know if they have many left.

Spoonard... I've noticed one thing and that the seller is Toyzz. Go look at their listings... everything is over priced by about two times...

Take a look at what Toyzz wants for the Panasonic BDP30. Highway robbery! My guess is, however, that the prices of the higher end HD DVD players (XA2 and A35) will keep on rising as the supply dries up. At least for a while. Toyzz is ridicolous and all the other third party vendors are in the 400s which is still moderately high.

Better then 699 dollars.

They had an 80 Gigabyte Zune2 for 450 bucks... it retails at wal-mart for 250.

As I posted yesterday (on another thread)....

I got a sales flyer today from Micro Center (a couple of dozen stores in select states), and they have a supply of the Panasonic BD30 Blu-ray unit for $499 currently - SITE LISTING.

Note: Micro Center (mainly serving the computer market) has 21 locations in 15 states, and the online website too.

As for HD-DVD, my Houston area Circuit City stores have the A3 unit on sale this week for $99 (closeout), and includes two free movies (300, and The Bourne Indentity).

My Wal Mart still had 2 A2's last night for $74.00. And I think Circuit City had the A3 for 98.00 this week.

Alot of people considered Laser Disc players to be collectors items. Do you guys think the HD DVD players from Toshiba or the few others that made it out from other manufacturers will be considered the same?

it is only a collectible if it you can find someone willing to pay more than what it is actually worth )

I think what they are doing now is trying to capitalize on people panic buying a back up player to keep their HD DVD collections playing...

the fire sales are over people...the retailers want to hose you...

it would not surprise me in the least if they jacked the price on the movies once Best Buy/Future Shop/Circuit City/Virgin and so on liquidate what they can hose the consumer...
